This poll assumes you have good availability of decent quality pork AND beef for a reasonable price where you live now. In Thailand, beef quality is not the best, but don't vote based on that, vote based on in an ideal situation, which do you like best. I think I know what the results will be, but let's see ...

Please understand this poll is NOT about Thailand beef! It's whether if you have choice between good quality beef or good quality pork, which do you prefer more. Clearly if people see the poll as being about Thailand beef, that would heavily weight the bias against beef.

Please also understand that there is no "good quality beef" available in Thailand therefore this is a one horse race: Pork Wins Hands Down.

To repeat yet again, this is not about the availability or cost of good quality beef in Thailand. Have I totally failed to communicate that? If so, can someone who understands please help me.

It is interesting to see no votes yet for like them equally. That makes sense to me, they are very different, so it's probably normal to prefer one to the other, though that of course doesn't preclude liking them both.

Please understand that the vast majority of expats live in area's where good quality beef is not available therefore pork wins hands down plus the fact that pork is not considered as a red meat.

You refuse to understand the poll question then? I give up.

In a perfect world: sure, a good, rare, piece of beef is fantastic. On the other hand a good piece of pork is also very good, what would a lot of the Asian kitchens do without pork? I go for the "like them equally".

I'm crazy about the beef (when it's good) but won't throw a good pork chop off the plate either.

What is it you hope to achieve from this poll?

Nothing. All human endeavor is meaningless. I am a nihilist. Who loves good food. Next ...

So you believe that nothing in life is important and/or has value? Pretty sad way of life but having said that I guess each unto his own.

Beef of course...

How could you consider pork as red meat?!?

Pork same as veal are viande blanche (white meat)...

The other red meats are horse -which I will have this weekend in Brussels- and venison -but I will be back in LoS before the hunting season.

I'm a Beef person, but a good Pork Roast is also very enjoyable.

Also, though I don't intend to insult anyone, I'm afraid much of the dislike of "bad Thai Beef" is due to the inability of many people to properly cook either Beef or Pork. Just slamming a half-frozen steak on the barbeque grill for a few minutes on each side, and then blaming the "low quality" meat for the poor result is a terrible crime commited by poor cooks. Don't do it.

The first rule of preparing Beef or Steak for cooking is MARINATE. If you don't do that, then don't blame the "poor quality meat" for being tough. If you marinate the meat properly (either Beef or Pork) you can cook just about any cut of meat and get compliments on it.

You just have to be smarter than the cut of meat you're trying to cook. Not all cooks are.

Some of the best Pork I ever had was slow-roasted in a pit underground, tightly wrapped and covered with hot coals for 24 hours. Ears of Corn, fresh onions, carrots, and sliced oranges and lemons (the citrus juice was to flavor and steam the meat) were also slow roasted with the meat. Now that was a good meal.

Most of us seem to be used to beef that we do not have to "outsmart". Does it not stand to reason that beef that does not need to be marinated or cooked for 24 hours is probably better than beef that does?

Face it, the beef here mostly sucks. :D

A poll which asked do you prefer THAI beef to THAI pork would almost definitely be a win for the PIG.

Not at all, the Beef from Makro is cheap and very good, buy at least 2 frozen T-Bone packs of 6 every month..

Thai friend bought a bag of Beef Curry, big bag 50 baht, was very good loads of fat free beef and so soft was unbelievable.

There are some places here in Thailand that sell good Beef
