Change License Plates

I have a 8 year old motorcycle . It has the old red and white narrow license plates and I want to change it to the current white wider plates Will I have to do this in L & T office or can I do this in a shop ?

Just curious is there the same possibillity for a bike as with a car licenseplate

like you buy your own name on it for a lot of money.
