Only "you" know how much "you" need to live. This topic has been done to death, returned to life and then been done to death again, numerous times. Any replies you get will only serve to confuse you more. Search the archive, or do the math.

Welcome Stuuu, I used to live in HH in a nice 3 bdrm townhouse for 4500 month (those were the days;). Suffice to say, you probably won't find that kind of deal around anymore but for avg 10- 20k per month, you can find decent to nice accomodation. All in say, 35000 to 50000 month for a reasonable lifestyle that doesn't see you sitting at home or eating at street stalls every night.

As Siam said tho, individual mileage may vary... :D

No probs Stuuu, maybe pop round the local farang publicans, they have the lo down fer sure;

Also, you might pm buksida, he's def got the skinny on all things HH :D

Last, where the heck is PeaceBlondie??? He had a motorcycle meets ditch near death episode in Oh my, then "emigrated" to lovely HH and nary a peep since?!

PB, ROLL CALL! What's your experience as a "newbie" in phantastic Prachuab Kiri Khan province? (maybe he doesn't want to shout out in fear of we'll all rush down there and spoil the place???:D:D

Howdy, y'all, as we say in south Texas, if not in southern Thailand. Although Hua Hin's not really south, unless you've just moved from Chiang Mai.

Update: sorry to have left this forum temporarily, but the bad shoulder limited my typing to half an hour every day or two. Much improved now; yesterday, five hours.

Three weeks in Hua Hin, as of tomorrow, ain't much. I'm still at the 'mai kojai' stage, paying 7,000/month plus utilities for a two-room bungalow almost on the beach. I see stratsopheric prices for renting new condos and houses. If you PM me, I can figure out the website URL for the local forum, which isn't much more active than this Hua Hin forum on thaivisa.com.

Since my entertainment and travel budget is sometimes more than some people's monthly income, I don't know how easily one could live on 25K or 35K baht/month. JYou won't try to live like the rich farang and Thai tourists that are all over the place, but you needn't live like the local Thais, who probably get by on 12K. Thai street food is typical - 20 baht takeaway for chicken-fried rice, khao phat gai. Transport is better than Chiang Mai (although that's not saying much).

That's all I can think of; try the other forum, perhaps.

I like it here, in spite of the injuries. Just now I'm receiving the second contingent of visitors in a week. Popular place to visit.
