Hanoi Hotels

Featured Replies

I'll be in Korat 7-10 December (out from Sydney, Australia) to stay with 'Beloved'.....and then we will be travelling together to Hanoi for a 1 week holiday. Any good suggestions about where to stay and what to do (apart from the obvious) would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

Daniel

Hoan Kiem Lake especially at night

Perfumed Pagoda is a day trip out of the city

Bac Ninh (Ha Long Bay on land) is a day trip out of the city

Ho Chi Minh Museum and Mausoleum

West Lake

Museum of Ethnicity (or something like that) Good exhibits of the ethnic peoples of Viet Nam.

Hanoi Hilton (the prison)

1 or 2 day trip to Ha Long Bay

If you're an active sightseer then 7 days is a bit long in Ha Noi itself but if you just want to kick back and take in the atmosphere it's great.

Edit: you might try posting in SEA forum for more info on Ha Noi.

My wife & I were in Hanoi about 3 years ago for a week and stayed at this place and it was pretty good: Viet Anh Hotel, www.vietanhhotel.com It's located in the "old quarter" and although it is a bit hectic that's the area where I would recommend you stay. We payed around $25, breakfast included, a night but there are many small guest houses' in this area that are cheaper.

Be sure to check out the water puppet show. Also an over night trip to Halong Bay or a couple of days in Sapa area would be interesting. For a great buffet go to Brother's Cafe, www.brothercafe.com

For more info got to www.lonelyplanet.com and click on thorn tree then go to the Vietnam thread.

I wonder if you will get a lot of replies after u inquired about HANOI in the ISAAN Forum ^^

nowadays, even many smaller hotels (and most Hotels in Hanoi are small affairs) can be booked through big hotel-brokers/ booking-portals such as agoda. Agoda has almost 150 hotels in Hanoi on offer ! plus reviews by people who actually stayed at those places.

I normally stay at the Prince Hotel, they have 3, I prefer #1, it is in the French Quarter.

Pattaya Parent pretty much nailed the sightseeing, I can only add Ha Luu, a 1 day trip.
