Depends on how much you spend in the 50 or so souvenir stalls situated immediately behind the photographers back. :o

Thanks Bambi... I'm just trying to find a price for an excursion to James bond Island, Private or group, it doesn't matter, but I would assume the group tour is cheaper.

You know the thing I'm looking for... go to a shop, pay the money, get picked up and taken to the boat etc..

Are those prices you have quoted from personal experience..?

Totster-

When my mom and sis came to Thailand, we spent a few days in Phuket, and took the "Sims James Bond Island Afternoon Tour", which is sold at any tour / travel agent. We booked it on the beach road in front of the hotel. Cost was 650 baht per person if memory serves me correctly. We thought it was a great deal.

They call it an afternoon tour- pick you up at your hotel at 11 ish, which allows you to sleep in / have breakfast at a leisurely pace, and provide a decent aircon coach for the round trip to Phang Na. They stop at an interesting temple inside a cave populated by dozens of monkeys along the way.

The longtail boat stops at Ko Pan Yee on the way to James Bond Island, which is a muslim community built on stilts / floats. They pass countless limestone islands, and take you through a natural "grotto" tunnel through one island.

After about an hour on James Bond island (more than enough- it isn't very big) the boat returns you to the coach in Phang Na. They play the movie "Man with the golden gun" on a TV in the coach to entertain you on the ride back to Phuket, which is cool to see after being there. We got back to Patong at about 7 PM- perfect timing to grab a shower and go for dinner.

Mom and sis still rave about that day- definitely one of the highlights of their trip. Can definitely recommend it to you.

You know that bit in 'Man with the Golden Gun' where he shows his third nipple, then goes into this nice apartment in the rock, then runs around in a Hall of Mirrors chasing Roger Moore, then that big solar powered gun thing comes out from the top.

Well none of that's there. Its just two boring old solid rocks. Its a big con.

Totster, from personal experience -because I live on Phuket and have been to many of the islands on numerous tours looking for "quality trips" to promote in the media - I wouldn't recommend James Bond Island. It has been trampled by tens of thousands of tourists and the souvenir stores all over the beach are really tacky. It's a bit like a cattle market experience.

I can recommend John Gray's Sea Canoe trip. Take the "starlight" tour which begins in the early afternoon and ends about 10 pm. It's top quality run by extremely professional eco-guides and takes you to some of the more "pristine" islands and hongs in Phang Nga Bay. You will see more nature than people and have a great kayaking experience with well-trained staff.

It's educational, peaceful and they serve great food all day and night. I sent my parents and they loved it! :o

Thanks Khall...

The thing is that my parents have set their heart on going to see James Bond Island. I will make the alternative suggestion, but at the end of the day I think that they'll want to go and see James Bond Island.. some of their friends have been, and told them about it .. :D

I'm not organising an iternary for them, they've looked in the books, seen what they want to do, and where I have no experience I will ask on here.. :o:D

It's their time in Thailand and I'm sure they'll enjoy it all the same... they're tourists.. doing the tourist thing.. :D

Phang Nga Bay Tour 850 Bht

Totster, the reason you haven't received a definitive answer to your question of costs is the sheer variety of choice.

Visits to Phang Na Bay can be full day with varying visits and activities or half day more specific tours to James Bond island. The activities can include such things as flash buffet lunches on board your vessel, swimming on beautiful beaches on isolated islands, snorkling, a visit to a floating Muslum fishing village complete with tourist restaurants and sea canoeing in caves and Klangs (recommended).

The vessels used range from speedboats (most expensive) through older, slower, more comfortable ferry types to longboats. You need to decide what sort of trip best suits you. I was very disappointed with James Bond island. You were placed on a dusty, hot little island containing 50 shops and hundreds of tourists with no escape until all the shoppers were ready to go. Incidently the needle like rock in the bay is not James Bond Island. The shopping island is.

I believe Phang Na is beautiful, very photogenic and well worth a day trip. James Bond Island is a disappointing anti climax.

Si si Totster. Your parents would have a more memorable time doing something "less touristy".... please consider!  :D

I am considering.. :o

Like I said.. I will put all suggestions to them... but it's their trip, and it's up to them.. :D

Of course it's not there. It blew up at the end of the film. It must have taken them ages to repair it.

If they dont want to take a tour as such, they can go down to the pier at Ao Phor and hire a boat/boat driver and go to all the Islands around there. The boat will cost about 1000 to 1500 and you can stop when and where you like. There are a couple of Islands before you get to James Bond with nice private beaches.

Also in the area is Pearl Island, Ratcha, Rung, Koh Yao's etc.
