Lars Scheffczik: "I have never used people like that."

PHUKET: -- Arrested German national Lars Scheffczik denies being involved in an alleged internet scam that defrauded people of about one million euros.

Speaking exclusively to the Phuket Gazette from a holding cell at Chalong Police Station, Scheffczik said, “I have never used these people like that.”

Scheffczik, 38, was arrested by Phuket Immigration at his home in Rawai on Monday.

“He has been charged with illegally entering Thailand and was wanted on an international arrest warrant for defrauding people in his home country,” said Immigration Inspector Maj Kaken Nijornatsachai.

Scheffczik will be prosecuted by Chalong Police for illegal immigration first, then deported to Germany to face prosecution by German authorities, Maj Kaken explained.

Deportation was likely to take “only a few days,” he added.

“The German government canceled his passport in April 2007, so he has not used his passport for a long time, or he could not find it. He was probably hiding in Phuket for five to six years, but has been living in Thailand for eight years,” Maj Kaken said.

Regarding the fraud allegations, the inspector said, “It seems the German embassy wanted documents and rubber stamps that Scheffczik used to trick people into signing contracts, or to show that he had some form of authority, but we haven’t found any documents like that from him.”

Mr Scheffczik maintains his innocence, however.

“They said I took money from some people, but I don’t even know the names of these people. I have never seen them before. I don’t even know how to clear this,” he told the Gazette on Tuesday.

“In Germany some people had their bank accounts robbed and they think it was me. They just blame people, but I have never used these people like that,” he said.

“All I know is that I want to go back to Germany quickly, but the problem is I don’t know how long they will keep me locked up here,” added Scheffczik.

During his time in Thailand, Scheffczik has fathered two children, one just eight months old, with his Thai partner, .

“Immigration are nice people. They have a good officer there who has been helping me, but they don’t understand the problem that I have,” he said.

“Deportation is not a problem. I just don’t know how long I will have to stay here, or how slow the process will be,” he added.

You've got nothing against a deportation? Doesn't that mean that you did it?:jap:

Here's your translation, wish you good luck, but I guess your cash is just gone. Shouldn't trust pricks like this.

Who can help me to bring Lars Scheffczik behind bars?

Asked by Batschi on 14.7.2008

I became a victim of Lars in January. He owes me now 6,500 Euros. After all I found out that I wasn't the only one. But it's too late. I should have thought about all earlier. Lars was at this time in Phuket and offered Canon camera products like object glasses that were pretty cheap.

I received first class stuff in the beginning, like PS 3 and so on. There're more websites, where many people are really pissed off about this guy. I need some advice how to get him and of course how I can get my money back!:jap:

P.S. I guess there's no chance to get your money back. Try to forget about it. Chock dee...

I've just read a post where Lars was asking a lawyer if he could get a passport here in Thailand. Some arrest warrants in Germany are waiting for him as well. If there's anybody who knows some cops, please see this link. It's written in German, but he obviously lived quiet a long time in LOS, ripping other people off to become fat like he is.

Hope the Thai cops still have him in custody. With that what he wrote, there wouldn't be a problem to really kick his ass.

2. sich einer Strafverfolgung oder Strafvollstreckung oder der Anordnung oder der Vollstreckung einer mit Freiheitsentziehung verbundenen Maßregel der Besserung und Sicherung, die im Geltungsbereich dieses Gesetzes gegen ihn schweben, entziehen will;

Phuket, Pattaya police earn big thanks from Germany

phuket-1-cWNpoBt.jpg

Mr Scheffczik was arrested in his Phuket home last month for allegedly defrauding

victims of about one million euros.

PHUKET: The German Embassy in Bangkok has issued an official letter of commendation to the Royal Thai Police Immigration Bureau praising the efforts of officers in Phuket and Pattaya in helping to track down, arrest and deport three Germans found hiding in Thailand over the past 12 months.

The letter, from German Ambassador Dr Hanns H. Schumacher to Royal Thai Police Immigration Bureau Commissioner Lt Gen Wiboon Bangthamai, was dated March 15.

A copy was sent to the office of national police chief Pol Gen Wichean Potephosree.

It referred specifically to the case of alleged internet fraudster Lars Scheffczik, arrested in his Rawai home on February 24.

Mr Scheffczik, who denied the charges, has been deported to stand trial for allegedly defrauding victims of about one million euros.

The letter also cited the deportation of Carsten Böhm in Pattaya.

Böhm, a 66-year-old former German folk singer, was recently sentenced to nine years in prison in Germany for statutory rape of scores of underage Thai girls.

The rapes were committed without a condom, despite the fact that Mr Böhm was aware he carried the HIV virus, it was widely reported.

German Honorary Consul for Phuket Dirk Naumann said the third arrest was also made in Phuket, but he was unable to comment on the details of the case.

The German diplomatic mission wanted to commend the Royal Thai Police for a job well done and demonstrate that it's not just a source of complaints, he said.
