Featured Replies

Organising a group from Pattaya to get away to Kanchanaburi in April... 3-4 rounds....4 nights....some of the guys are taking partners.

Need help on the following.

Driving time..??

Accomodation recomendations 900 - 1500 BHT a night.

Golf course recomendations...say within 50km of town.

Recomendations on restaurants....Farang and Thai food.

Thanks in advance.

I would give Lion Hills, it's now called Mida a miss... too many Korean Tour Groups . We always like to play Nichigo and you can stay there, but there is not much to do if not playing golf. Have a look at thaigolfer.com web site.

When there, we usually stay at The Filix. Ok. it's getting a bit dated now but still the rooms are reasonable and the pool which has a waterfall is quite nice. Breakfast there is buffet, alright but must admit that it is not as good as it was a few years ago. They have a a couple who sing every night, same two for as long as I can remember.

I know that they have a arrangement with Nichigo, they give you a card for a reduced green fee. Maybe you could ask for a group deal by talking to the hotel manager.

An alternative is Mission Hills and Evergreen Hills but we haven't played either, somewhat more expensive than Nitchego. Kanchanaburi seems to be blessed with Korean Golf Tour Groups, who expect priority, so maybe a good idea to phone and chat to the Golf Club direct to see what their policy is.

The restaurant by the bridge..the one every tourist visits..is ok, however we prefer the one which is just about fifty meters further up river. However I'm sure that someone else, more local, can advise better.

Nichigo is highly recommended as is blue sapphire for ace golfers-lots of water hazards! Accommodation would say xanadu 2008 is the best in the area.Fully agree the restaurant 50 metres up river from bridge is good and consistent-tarakiri or something similar is its name.
