Korat's Market Gutted By Fire

Featured Replies

THERE WAS A FLASH FIRE IN NAKHON RATCHASIMA LAST NIGHT

The flash fire flattened Nakhon Ratchasima’s (นครราชสีมา) municipality market last night (September 11th, 2005), which also damaged 20 houses.

At 19:00 hrs last night, fire erupted in Nakhon Ratchasima’s municipality market in Nakhon Ratchasima province, which started in a wooden house, before spreading across the whole market area.

After learning of the incident, Nakhon Ratchasima’s municipality gathered authorities to prevent the fire from spreading further.

The fire burnt through 20 houses; however, a damage assessment is not yet possible.

Anyone know which market this is? AFAIK there are no wooden houses near the main talat in Korat. However, since there are several markets, I wonder to which one the article refers?

Just learned that the fire was in Pak Chong. Funny the article didn't mention that.

I just posted the article as a community service to you Isaanites Mike... I take no responsibility for the accuracies or inaccuracies of the content. :o

As you know I have an active interest in Isaan... 'cos my dearly beloved comes from there.

:D

I appreciate it. I wouldn't have known otherwise. (I'm still in California.)

Usually news articles in Thailand are pretty specific as to the muang. Just surprised that this one didn't say anything.
