Help please looking for some reasurance here,my wife is a Thai national and in January we went to London to apply for her new passport. This was ok till we found out she had applied with the title of Mrs and in Thailand she is registered as Ms,they would not process application till she agreed to use the title Ms in her passport. This application is underway and we rang the embassy last week and they said passport should be here in two weeks, i asked them what if the passport does not arrive in time as we go back to Thailand start of April and we are concerned. They however said that the wife can travel without a passport to Thailand with paperwork provided by embassy, they say we can get this through post from them if passport does not arrive in time.

Has anybody any information on this dilema ,any help will be really great.

It's not unusual for a Thai to be able to travel back to Thailand with an expired Passport.

Particularly if they are on a continuous flight, without a stopover in another country where Immigration clearance maybe further required.

Thanks for that fishhooks,we are actually transiting through Dubai so still unsure about how we stand.

As long as you remain airside at Dubai she will not need a passport.

Your difficulty may come when it is time to leave Thailand and return to the UK and her passport is at your local post office awaiting her collection (the RTE send passports by recorded delivery).

If you are going to travel to Thailand before her passport arrives you need to contact the RTE and ensure that she will be able to collect her new passport from somewhere in Thailand; and her old one as that will have her UK entry clearance in it.

Thank 7by7 have spoke with RTE today and they are checking on progress of wifes passport, they say they will ring me back ? Unsure about this so will ring again tomorrow.

Do you know what paperwork she will need to travel without a passport please.

I think this page gives the info, but it's in Thai and neither wife nor daughter are here to confirm.
