Hi,After much research I have decided on getting a new Honda CBR250. Just got back from the Mityon dealership on the corner of 3rd road and Pattaya Thai Road. Was quoted the the ABS model would cost me 135k and non-ABS was not available(they said they could only get me a CBR150, no such thing as CBR250 without ABS). Furthermore, they have none in stock and I would have to be put on a waiting list for a indeterminate amount of time after I placed a deposit, of course.

Anyways there price is was over MSRP.

Should I try and go to another city, or stealership in Pattaya besides Mityon, to find another dealership?(and if so would I have to take it to said dealer for warranty servicing?)

Has anyone ever got screwed over by leaving a deposit?(and the bike never comes or at an inflated price) from Mityon?

Any strategies or advice appreciated, really want this bike!

I think you will find most dealers selling the CBR 250 over the recommended retail price, why....because they can

and yes there is a non ABS version, currently being sold for about 120k, best to have a ring around all the dealers (Pattaya and beyond) and see what they have got, however

I believe you will find the majority will tell you waiting list (of up to 3 months) is in place, hence the higher price supply and demand!

Almost the same story I got from my dealer in Bangkok, except they know about the non ABS model, price was 130k for ABS. Waiting list (a scrap of paper) of unknown length and refused to take a deposit.

I changed my mind and went to Kawasaki instead, I like the 250 but it ain't worth waiting for.

You have many choices...

To the North.. Sri Racha, Bang Saen and Chonburi City in that order

To the South... Sattahip, Ban Chang, and Rayong.

There is a good chance the price will be much closer to MSRP

Every Dealer will/should service.

I'd get a Thai to phone all the dealers in all the towns around the region if you can get a list. One of the books that comes with it has all the Honda dealers in Thailand with addresses and phone numbers. I don't have a scanner but it would be handy to get it scanned and uploaded somewhere.

Good luck with it. Don't mind the naysayers and get out and look. I got my one for 110k all inc. on the day of release when people were saying they were all presold, and even had a nice choice of colours even though people were saying the first batch was only maroon/silver. 30 mins after phoning I was riding home on a dark-night.

I know a dealer in Trat was selling standard model for 106k not so long ago.

btw, an update from it's aussie release:

An update:

Australia is getting only 300 in quantity (supposed to get 500) in the week starting 28th March.

Most of the dealers are not taking any pre orders anymore.

This bike is selling as HOT cake.

Haven't heard of one country were supply is close to demand. Everyone has massive waiting lists already.

They're in short supply because the CBR 250 is supposed to be manufactured in both Thailand and India but Honda's factory in India is WAY behind schedule and isn't even producing the bike yet...

The Thailand factory in the Lat Krabang Industrial Estates is cranking them out 24/7, trying to hire more workers and is paying a lot of overtime at the moment... Without the Indian factory they'll never keep up with demand though...

Let the Good Times ROLL!

Not solely due to that, but yes, big delays with the Indian plant. The Indian based guys on the CBR forums are patient and a bit perplexed as to why their first round of bikes will be imported from Los.

Even with 2 plants they're going to be stretched to meet the global demand for a very, very long time. One of the American lads had his dealer confirm that they'll only be allocated one bike in the first round, followed by 3 the following round but they don't know when that will be. With Australia, NZ, North & South America, the UK and most of Europe to feed, it's going to be quite a while until all the hungry are fed.
