Are Slate Slabs Available In Bangkok?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I'm looking to get a couple of slate slabs for a DIY furniture project. I want good quality slate too - I don't want Chinese rubbish.

Does anyone know of a good stone merchant in Bangkok that sells slate? Also I need to find a suitably experienced stone mason to do the cutting and finishing to my exact specifications.

I realise this may not be possible in Bangkok, but I thought I may as well ask before arranging it to be done in the UK and shipping to Thailand.

Any input or guidance greatly appreciated.

Cheers

You could try the following,

Boonthaworn Ceramic Co, Ltd.

243 Ratchadapisek Rd

Din Daeng.

Phone number is 02 275 0029.

If you are coming from the junction of Lap Prao Rd and Ratchadapisek heading towards Pra Ram 9,

the shop is on the left hand side about 1 km from the junction, its right beside the first pedestrian footbridge you come to,

sign is in Thai and English.

Thanks for the info guys.

After some extensive research yesterday I found a company called 'Asia Granite Group'. As is usual with Thai companies their email contact address on the website is out of date so I phoned them to give them a rough idea of my requirements and see if they would be able to help me.

I spoke to a helpful guy whose English was quite good. He gave me their updated email address so I sent full details of my requirements and supporting photos to give them a clearer idea of what I'm looking for. They have a showroom on Surawongse Rd. Hope they get back to me soon! If not, I'll check out your suggestions.

Rachada Marble or Antique Stone do good work.
