The "Long Time No See Thread"

Featured Replies

Hi Folks.

Long time no see.

How are we all?

Just thought I would drop in and say Hi.

Good to see so many old timers still here.

Anyway, I guess that is about all I have to say. I still check in every once in a blue moon, mostly to see how old friends are doing.

The early days of TV were great, I guess we were a smaller bunch back then, now I think i would find not much in common with most people.

For those interested, Thailand is still my favourite place on earth, I still speak more Thai than any other language. But I can own my own home in Riau province Indo, if I marry my GF I can get permanent residence and keep it even if we divorce, Singapore is a boat ride away.

yet i find myself spending the last 1.5 years in korea. Now this is a place that sucks. You think thailand is zenophobic? ha.

I will be back next week to visit my kids, thinking of pulling them out of school for a week to spend some time with them, maybe head off to Koh Chang or similar.

I miss my kids, i hope they dont miss me. I mean that in the best possible way ofcourse.

I never thought I would be the deserter, guilt plagues me, but I do believe they are happy and doing quite well.

I will not be able to sleep whilst I am in Thailand, I will always have the niggling paranoia that I will wake up with a knife in my belly.

Anyway, Long time no see to all my old friends, SBK, IJWT, Mig and many others.

For those who don't know me, an interesting fact is the very first TV party was held at my house in 2003 I think, George, the Doc and Huski were the only Admin at the time, George came, cdnvic flew in from wherever, the OFCS showed up as did Sriracha John, Georgie-Porgie was invited as was The Gentleman but they couldn't be trusted not to kill each other and were banished to the bear-pit. The Old Git showed up as did some members of the RIP member group (we will never forget them) there were a few others too but 8 years is a long time to remember details after so much beer. I am pretty sure a good time was has as Mattnich came back again the next day.

Anyway, memories....be what they may.

How about the DD? Any members of the DD still active? We were about 10 members and we were helping each other, I miss the honesty and trust we had in each other. Shame it fizzled out (or is it still going and i am no longer a granted permission?) BTW I am now doing really well, I very rarely drink now.

Ok, I guess that is my trip down memory lane.

Thaivisa was a huge part of my life for nearly 8 years (nearly, becos I have faded in the recent years) and I believe I can say I helped in a small way to make Tv what it is (if I didn't, dont tell me, :) )

Who else is a long time no see'um?

What are your fondest memories of TV?

Good to hear you are doing well Tuky.

A few have been missing in action for a while, Farangsay and Suegha being two.

Have a good time with the kids and sleep lightly.

Good Luck

Moss

Hi Tuky,

Good to hear from you. I often wonder if you are OK. Do you remember our little get together at my house in Pattaya?

DD is still going, but is VERY quiet these days. I am surprised you are locked out, maybe you can get JD or someone to let you in again. I am sure we would all love to 'see' you again.

If you do come to Pattaya, please give me a bell (I can PM my number), I am back out by the lake but in a different house. I am also 4 1/2 months sober. How about you? Or shouldn't I ask?

Anyway, great to see your name again,

Take care mate

Mobi

There you go darling, fixed. You should have let me know :)

I won't go into details of who I miss as I will be accused of favoritism or who I am glad to see the back of or I will be accused of bias, but let me just say that I am so glad you are doing better tuky. Be sure to drop in from time to time and check up on those of us old(er) farts still around :)

Pop in from time to time, tuky. It's nice to hear from you. I fully understand what you meant about the children. I've seen similar situations.

Hey Leith, so good to hear from you again. Seems your post has good timing as I'm in and out for long stretches myself. Too much work most of the time.

I wish you good fortune with your kids. Keep them in your heart, and I know you do, and they'll know.

TV has certainly gone through it's changes . . . especially it's membership, which is nearing 120,000. It's not as quaint as it used to be, but I'm still fond of it as well. I, too, miss a lot of the older posters who used to be (hyper)active here, but still stay in touch with quite a few.

Anyways, enjoy your stay in LOS, all the best to you and โชคดีมากๆ.

Cheers, mate.

Tip

Hi Tuks, you are sounding much happier than you were a while back, that's good.

Im still around, and always happy to hear from you Tuky

keep well, and good to know you are happy and drinking less.

take care.

Another person who comes to mind is our Spanish flamenco dancing friend - Glauka. I hope she is happy.

And November Rain - she was posting over "there" for a while but seems to have evaporated. The last i heard was that she was getting married.

Good luck to her.

Haven't seen her posting 'over there' for a long time now.

Evaporation eh...............can't be good

Edited to add happened to me once. One moment I was there the next.............Gone into mist. Long way back from there, the cure involves Juniper berries, a battery and a four man canoe.

golf and amyji check in from time to time, nice to see them succeed in the US, believe they have a couple kids too. Thaivisa's own love story! They met on TV

After hearing that " TV love story ", I feel such a heel now for constantly turning down "neverdies" amorous advances. Sorry sailor....................

Hellooooo Tukky,

You're in Indo huh? So glad you are doing well there. Sounds like an interesting place to cast your corn flakes :)

I too often think of earlier TV members, our mates - a big hi to all still around who we hung out with; and fond memories of those who shook the bucket up big and got banned, or just slipped away into the black hole of the universe; - and, of course, our dear friends who snuck off up to the bright lights of a heavenly abode to plump the cushions for the rest of us - a huge big g'day and much love too!

Funny you started this thread Tukky - cos just a few weeks ago I thought about it also! Thai visa Forum is/ was a big part of many peoples lives whether or not still based in Thailand.

So, for me, am back at university in Oz studying a masters degree in development. I hope to save the world - as usual! It's tough though - so, if I get through I may just be back working in SE Asia in a few years.

Hope to see my TV friends "back home" soonish. If not, I'll see you all for a coffee or glass of vino - on a sunny Thailand holiday!

Ps. what are the rest of you lot up to then?

big hugs,

Kerrie :)

Hi kerrie! Really long time no see! I am sure you will save the world somehow :)

Great to "read" you Kerrie!!

Me, still in boring Switzerland!!!

"Boring" is a six-letter word Patsy :) We all have so many stories to tell, that none of our lives are ever boring, my dear! Switzerland, Cairns, Phuket and beyond ... life can excite wherever we are xoxox

  • 2 weeks later...

and I was just asking about you yesterday P Meadish!
