It is fear mongering plain & simple.

It is conditioning the minds of citizens to accept the continued

use of military actions in foreign lands..........

...................Better to ask why does this fear of retaliation exist.

As you sow, so shall you reap.

And those drones are delivering the reaping around the clock.

Do they actually think we believe any of this bullshit? It's just become too absurd to have any credibility at all.

As absurd as stuffing one's crotch with explosives and trying to light it in mid flight.

This surgically implanted bomb story is months old - if not from last year. The latest I heard was that al Qaeda told their boys in the UK to act gay in order to be less suspicious.

So they think that a gay Muslim in the UK would incur less suspicion than a straight one? How does that work? The UK is so full of gay Muslims that another would pass unnoticed? I think that the latest you heard is just more fear-mongering bullshit.

It doesn't really matter, does it? It will always be "fear-mongering" in the eyes of a few no matter how many facts there are to back it up. When something finally happens, they will claim "you reap what you sow". You can't please some people so I wouldn't worry about trying.

Anyway, I found the source and it's a pretty funny read...

A new terror training manual tells Islamic extremists to lie about their sexuality if a woman approaches them in case she is a "honeytrap" spy sent by security services.

The 64-page guide, all in English, was written to try to stop the police and MI5 uncovering the identity of terrorists plotting attacks on British soil.It was produced by Taliban warlords in Afghanistan and was discovered by Sunday Mirror investigators on a password-protected Jihadist website used by UK cells. It has emerged just months after MI5 launched a recruitment drive for women to work as spies.

"Delivering the reaping"? Peculiar grammar.

Why are you so smug about all the civilians that the US is murdering with drones? You always seem very proud of it.

The drones are sowing, and you shall reap that harvest and mourn.

Both of you should visit the museum in Saigon and see the truth of the US foreign policy.

Oh, so when they kill our civilians, we deserve it. When we kill theirs, it is murder.

It the grand scheme of things whatever you think about it doesn't matter and won't change a thing. So keep on hating and just keep in mind that while it may make you feel better, at the end of the day you're still wrong. :)

Why do you ALWAYS have to twist things?

Who do I "hate"? I have never taken a position of hate towards anybody. You ALWAYS twist it that way though.

This spin and twisting always comes as a diversion away from the facts: You ARE smug and proud of the drones killingt civilians.

I don't think we are ignorant of each others' views. In fact, we often know what the other person's opinion on a topic will be based on how they have expressed their views in the past (especially if the topic is Israel for example).

Here's a picture:

1974BirminghamPubBombing.jpg

It's a picture of a pub in Birmingham (UK) called 'The Tavern in the Town' taken in 1974 shortly after the IRA blew it up. If my friend and I had decided to have another pint there would have been 23 people dead instead of the 21 who did get killed. I don't need you to 'please' me. I make my own mind up.

I've no doubt that the people who produce these reports and warnings do it with the best of intentions (most of the time) but the effect that they create is often the opposite of what they intend. Rather than making people alert to real threats they frighten people into being afraid of everything. After the bomb attacks in London the ignorant were attacking brown folks with turbans. After the last 'paedophilia' scare a paediatrician was driven from her home.

As for the "implant" bullshit Humph reckons that something the size of a pen can do a lot of damage. Can you imagine having an incision being made that's big enough to implant a pen in you and then being stitched up and convalescing so that you could walk normally without raising suspicion? Wouldn't it just be easier to load a rucksack full of explosives, shave your beard off, catch a train down to London and pull the trigger in St Pancras, Euston or any other station of your choice. We don't search internal travellers in the UK (apart from at airports). It smacks too much of the USSR.

Both of you should visit the museum in Saigon and see the truth of the US foreign policy.

I have visited it more than once. The "truth"? What a joke. It is filled wih biased, cartoonish Communist propagands that most people find absurd.

Can you imagine spending months taking flying lessons (where you do not learn to land) so that you can blow up a building of innocent people?

I'd rather spend several months taking flying lessons than having a Parker 51 stitched into my thigh. Once again I call bullshit. Is there any evidence of these implants apart from right-wing bloggers and wishful thinking Jihadis from Luton who daren't let their Mums into their bedrooms?

Completely denying that someone who is perfectly happy to commit suicide to kill innocent people would try it seems like bullshit to me.

Once side hates America and the Jews. The other side hates Islamic terrorists and their enablers. It is pretty clear really.

That is your normal spin BS to justify your crusade.

Everybody here hates terrorists. Some here only hate terrorists based on their religion.

I know of nobody that hates Jews and America, although I have become aware, through documentaries, of Jew-haters...all of them are American, coincidentaly.

Denying the obvious fools no one who has been reading the OTB posts.

Please keep it civil. It's not necessary to respond to comments you consider not worth responding to.

1) While I'm genuinely happy that you did get blown up, being an almost victim doesn't give you and special insight into whether these reports are fear-mongering or not. It appears that you were trying to establish some sort of expert status. If I'm wrong, my apologies. An ex-girlfriend of mine was blown up in a bar in Greece back in the '80s. She carried the torn apart key chain with her. It had great story value but it didn't make her an expert.

2) It's easy to find instances where these reports have hurt innocent people like you mention. It is nearly impossible to know how many attacks (if any) were prevented because the other side chose a different tactic now that their plans were widely known. How many attempts have been made to make liquid bombs on planes after the first attempt in the UK became widely known? Or how many attempts to put bombs in shoes? These reports do sometimes have negative consequences but they are far out-weighed by the positives IMO.

3) How difficult is is to implant something like a pen inside someone? apparently not difficult at all. Worse happens on accident all the time:

Yeah, but in your opinion Americans and Jews are the terrorists, the Mulsim extremists blowing everyone up including themselves and other Muslims are poor, misundertsood, vicitimised peace lovers.

Fair point. I'm then left wondering why you all bother?

Fun I suppose.....ohmy.gif

A freudian slip? :D

A valid point.

I posted about my experience not to try and prove that I'm any sort of 'expert' but that I have been affected by terrorism (albeit at second hand) and that I'm not making these claims about bullshit lightly. Your picture of some sort of medical instrument stuck in an abdomen would have required an operating theatre with a full surgical team including anaesthaesia, post-op recovery and convalescence - that's without the mistake of leaving the forceps inside. Slightly more complicated than putting on an explosive shoe or strapping a suicide jacket on. Personally I don't understand the terrorist's obsession with aircraft. There are far easier targets to get to on the gorund which would cause just as much carnage.

I'm not a great traveller anymore but of the 4 airports that I've visited over the past 2 years the only one where pax are checked before they enter the building was Chiang Mai. The others (Heathrow, Birmingham UK and Suvahnabumi) allow you inside the building with all your luggage before they check you over.

The answer to this new thresat to the flying public was first presented in the Jokes thread. Just have each passenger pass through an enclosed booth that emits an array of radio signals that would trigger the blast. The you can get rid of all those officious Gestapo like TSA agents. The solution is at least as valid as the threat outlined in the OP.

The soution? Don't fly. Don't participate.

It would only take a percentile of 30% of worldwide flyers for them to notice.....business would take precedence over security paranoia.

the Mulsim extremists blowing everyone up

Actually this part of your statement can be applied to more than Muslims as your post about drones proved.

There have been numerous complaints concerning this thread. It will be closed for clean-up.

//CLOSED//

This topic is now open. It will be closely and tightly monitored.

OTB is supposed to be a little more lenient in the application of the rules. That will now cease. Re-read the OP and respond to it. Stop responding to other posters at a personal level.

The Vietnam war is off-topic. A clue: Terrorism: Airports
