Terrorists Planning To Blow Up Planes With Bombs Inside Their Bodies, Authorities Warn

Featured Replies

They had reporters on last years hate flotilla and for the first 24 hours they swore up and down that the activists on board had not done anything at all to the Israeli soldiers that boarded the ship trying to run the defensive military blockade - that they were entirely peaceful. They really got egg on their faces when the footage was released showing numerous passengers attacking the boarding soldiers with steel pipes, firebombs and knives.

However, they are "fair" enough on issues that do not affect their own agenda.

Every time I have watched Al Jazeera, it has struck me that no other media organization makes as much of an effort to present both sides to a story.

What, exactly, is it that makes people laugh at the mention of their balanced approach?

I watch it every day because I get the same impression. It's people who don't watch it (and are therefore unqualified to have an opinion) that make silly assumptions....for Goodness sake, it is run by Muslims!!!!!! It HAS to have an anti-American bias, surely!?!?

There is a reason that Al Jazeera is banned in 4 or 5 Muslim countries....because it does not have a Muslim agenda.

There is a reason Al Jazeera reporters are arrested and killed in radical Muslim areas....because it reports the truth.

A fair and balanced news outlet indeed. :)

I watched that report as it unfolded......you obviously did not because your description is highly inaccurate.

But then....your bias shows in other ways too....calling a group of do-gooders with humanitarian aid a "hate flotilla"....now THAT is what is worthy of a chuckle.

Sorry, but I watched the coverage on Al Jazeera very closely and my description of the hate flotilla is correct.

The ship was sponsored by a Turkish terrorist group and filled with paid Turkish mercenaries with no ID and a huge amount of cash on their person who were there to purposely cause violence. The useful idiot, so called "do-gooders" on board do not negate the violent intentions of the organizers who refused to deliver the "aid" to the UN by the way. :whistling:

Why do some people consistently defend hateful creeps like these?

. . . Why do some people consistently defend hateful creeps like these?

Because UG, either they hate the freedoms that Westerners revere, or they are ignorant, or both.

Your video clip is nothing at all like the Al Jazeera reports of the time.

Your video clip is a ridiculously biased and silly propaganda clip made by Israel. Why silly? Because it purports to show "metal bars" and such like by circling in yellow indistinguishable people doing indistinguishable things.

The biggest questions is...Why does Israel blockade humanitarian supplies to Gaza? Why can't the Gazan children have coloured pencils in school, or chocolate?...or nutmeg or corriander or fruit juice. I fail to see the security threat of these things.

Why do you consistantly defend the Israeli fascists?

I'll be quite clear about what I despise: I despise the lack of freedom that Israel, with America's backing, imposes on the people of Gaza.

As usual, the right-wingers have turned the thread into something else.

Talk about toilet humour... :cheesy:

:whistling:

I used to have "access" to such information and reports....but since I'm retired now I no longer do and therefore I can't verify them.

But for the following question:

Any explosion on a plane is a huge risk, but can enough explosives be hidden in a living person to easily blow a hole in an aircraft?

The answer is yes, if it was a high intensity plastic explosive, easly enough could be implanted in a normal human body to cripple an aircraft and blow a sizeable hole in the plane besides.

It might be uncomfortable to the person carrying it, but he/she could have enough implanted to do signifigant damage...especially if they had a windows seat.

As in Richard Reid (the shoe-bomber) who had a windows seat.

????

Where's the toilet humour there?

As you obviously don't know, as a friendly gesture, I'll try to educate you: "Toilet humour" is the silly, dry humour of small children and senile 2nd-childhooders who think talk of wee wee and poopy is risque and funny.....like "I saw the doggy, and he did a poo poo, snigger hee hee", or "I hope you pulled the curtain down while you did your poopy, tee hee hee".

There is no toilet humour in my sentence. Not intentionally nor unintentionally as far as I can see.

Do you understand the term now? If not, I will try to explain in simpler terms.....all for the sake of good understanding between us. :)

Keep warm, now. You don't want to get pneumonia.

No. Al Jazeera initially denied that the activists resorted to violence at all until the video footage proved conclusively that they were lying.

There are plenty of close-ups of the Turkish mercenaries attacking the soldiers with weapons and they have been posted on here numerous times. Are you really going to pretend that you have not seen them? I can certainly post them once again if you are.

As for the supplies, Gaza is allowed all those things, but the hate flotilla refused to deliver any "aid" to the UN when given the option because helping the poor had nothing to do with their real agenda. They wanted to break the blockade in order to allow Hamas to bring in weapons in at a later date and the useful idiots enable this behavior. "Do-gooders" they certainly are not.

It's people who don't watch it (and are therefore unqualified to have an opinion) that make silly assumptions....

You've just described 95% (I like that figure) of Fox news critics.

There is a reason that Al Jazeera is banned in 4 or 5 Muslim countries....because it does not have a Muslim agenda.

There is a reason Al Jazeera reporters are arrested and killed in radical Muslim areas....because it reports the truth.

They have been banned because also have worked closely with terrorists and insurgents - who slaughter the civilian population. And radical Muslims will kill just about anybody.

I'll be quite clear about what I despise: I despise the lack of freedom that Israel, with America's backing, imposes on the people of Gaza.

That's pretty ignorant. Gaza was given back to the Palestinians about 5 years ago (given their freedom) and instead of building a peaceful society they immediately began launching rockets at Israel. They have no one to blame for their situation other than themselves for allowing the radical element to take control (by popular vote even)

Your first statement presents another unsubstantiated statistic, plainly made-up and arbitrary....therefore of no consequence and pointless in posting.

You then state that Al Jazeera has been banned in certain Muslim countries because they (AJ) have worked closely with terrorists. You state that in refute of my statement that they (AJ) were banned for not following a Muslim agenda. It sounds like an opinion to me, or do you have something to support that stance?

You then do your normal exageration/generalisation....again, not worth posting. But never mind...it's your right to post that sort of thing.

Please refer us to those initial reports. I watch AJ every day and I don't recall any such tripe. At the same time, let us all consider that the IDF confiscated all video images that the passengers took. If the IDF have nothing to hide, why do they still refuse to release the confiscated videos? It doesn't take a genius to come to the obvious conclusion.

I am suprised at your assertion that Gaza is allowed all those things. Before I posted this, I checked, and I could not find any information that refutes my statement, so I will stand by it.

Again, you will have to refer us to that information if you have anything that refutes what I said.

Here's an excellent report from what AJ was showing back when it happened:

I guess Al Jazzera doesn't have the rights to show the video of the IDF getting beaten by the people on the boat because they aren't showing it. They do have plenty of still pictures and video of the evil Zionists commados standing on the deck holding their guns. No shooting though.

It's an undisputed fact that the overwhelming majority of critics of Fox News don't watch it. Take yourself as an example. Then take a poll of your friends. They probably all think the actual spelling is "Faux" because they are only exposed to it on Internet forums.

I remember this one quiz night back on Samui. One of the topics was Famous People Named Sean (and its various spellings). The team next to ours was a group of ladies - regular participants mostly from Canada and California - who were very liberal and who I had heard trashing Fox News on more than one occasion like every liberal must do. Well, one of the famous Seans was Sean Hannity and I thought for sure they would moan and groan about it - except that none on their table even recognised him.

Anyway, none of this really has much to do with bombs being surgically implanted into the human body. Someone else mentioned the detonator mmight be more of a problem. But I still don't see why these terrorists just don't blow themselves up in the check-in line.

An "undisputed fact" based on one quiz night in Samui and your observation of one table of ladies.

Finally, a real reason to :cheesy: .

Ties in with most of your observations and resulting generalisations....such as most Muslims being Islamist would-be world dominators.

It is an excellent report of what AJ was actually showing on their channel AT THE TIME. That's what you asked for, right? ...

Your video clip is nothing at all like the Al Jazeera reports of the time.

If you want to discuss AJ, your free to do so, if it is about their reporting on "Terrorists planning to blow up planes with..."

Good to see that you take my well-intentioned words and stand corrected. Well done.

No, I don't believe that would be classed as toilet humour. Finding other ways to say "Your head is in your arse" is, I think, in some circles considered wit. In the circles I am associated with, it is looked down upon as rather droll and an indication of lower intellect. Thankfully you only brought it up as an example and didn't use it as humour otherwise I would have drawn a simmilar conclusion.

Actually, we (my circle of friends) find humour in the fact of that sort of droll one-liner. It's not funny itself, but knowing that someone thinks it's funny is.

Simmilarly, for example this....Very predictable punchline and very droll subject, however, slighter higher on the humour scale....:

Three old men are sitting on the porch of a retirement home.

Vern says, "Fellas, I got real problems. I'm seventy years old. Every morning at seven o'clock I get up and I try to urinate. All day long I try to urinate. They give me all kinds of medicine but nothing helps."

Old Joe says, "You think you have problems. I'm eighty years old. Every morning at 8:00 I get up and try to move my bowels. I try all day long. They give me all kinds of stuff but nothing helps."

Finally, decrepit old Charles speaks up, "Fellas: I'm ninety years old. Every morning at 7:00 sharp I urinate. Every morning at 8:00 I move my bowels. Every morning at 9:00 sharp I wake up."

Not uproariously funny, but there are some subtle elements that could raise a smile, don't you think? :)

The ignorance is in thinking that Gaza has freedom.

If they were to blow their underwear or shoes up in the toilet, would the explosion likely be big enough to bring the plane down?

I would think they might want to be sitting next to the outside of the plane to effect maximum damage.

I was on a transatlantic flight, business class once (yeah, only once) and the WC was twice the size as in economy and it had a window.

First class with Emirates has a shower koheesti.....let the bombers go out with a clean conscience....why fly economy if you're planning for a short trip?

I'll be quite clear about what I despise: I despise the lack of freedom that Israel, with America's backing, imposes on the people of Gaza.

This argument can go in circles for ever it seems. Not that its wrong but where do we go with it?

The ignorance is in thinking that you can ignore the moderator's instructions to return to the subject of the thread.
