There are possibably a number of Thai women who have fallen for this trap and are in various countries around the world. We do not know the background story involving this English guy but it makes me wonder if his is a similar event.

It's not. The two women went willingly and told the court they were under no illusions what they were going to the UK for and also told the court they were treated well by Andrew Wallace, hence the relatively light sentence of two years he received.

Better not to speculate on things you know nothing about.

If he knew everything about it he wouldn't have to speculate would he? If speculation was not acceptable then scientific advances and overall general knowledge would prove to be very difficult to expand. He is wondering; It is a pity that that notion doesn't grow on Thais. What if Wilbur and Orville hadn't pondered the possibility of flight?

All you have done by your bull at the barn door response is to make some people ponder just how arrogant you really are.

A Puriton man with previous convictions for sex trafficking is back behind bars after twice trying to evade the authorities in Asia, police say.

Andrew Wallace, 39, was convicted at Taunton Crown Court in 2010 of trying to bring two Thai prostitutes to Somerset to work in the sex trade, and sentenced to two years in prison.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said: “He was released from Channings Wood prison in Newton Abbot in December 2010, but breached his license and flew to Thailand.

If you're a foreigner who owns a bar in Thailand with prostitutes, you're not much different to this guy. You're actually a pimp rather than a bar owner. You're living off immoral earnings from prostitution because you get paid a bar fine when the girl takes a customer out of the bar. Hope you write "pimp" as your occupation when filling in forms or registering at a hotel, because that's what you are.

You may have a point somewhere here that is valid but you are not making your case very well ..

Being a bar owner is not illegal, being a pimp is illegal.

A bar fine is also legal and has absolutely nothing to do with paying for sex. Any compensation for a sex act is paid to the girl from the customer. A bar fine doesn't give permission for a customer to do anything but allow the girl to take time off from her job in the bar.

Your comparisons can also be used to call other legal entities such as Taxi Drivers, Pharmacies and Hotel operators pimps too.

FalangBaa is absolutely right.

The way you describe it, is a how to get around the law smart answer.

It`s similar to the massage parlours in the UK, that most people know these establishments are just fronts for prostitution.

The beerbar owners are fully aware that the female hostesses employees are prostitutes and I am sure that the bar owners realise that these girls are not taken out by the customers just for a friendly chat or for a good read at the local library.

Whether it`s profits on lady drinks, girl shows on stage or bar fines, the owners are making money from these girls. Having a good gutful of cheap beer followed by some cheap sex, is what most of these bars are about. If a bar owner is not aware of this, then he's in the wrong business or just plain stupid.

Personally I have no objections to how these bars operate, providing there are no juveniles involved. I have enjoyed them as much as many people have. But why not be honest regarding the roles of the bar owners?

Whether someone is supplying prostitutes on the street, online, advertised in a magazine, in a newspaper or in an establishment such as a bar, what's the difference?

Again sounds like the same would apply to taxi drivers who take a working girl to or from work or a Farang to a bar or a hotel that allows a farang to stay who brings working girls to his room. In fact, what of the food vendors outside these bars that cater to the working girls.

There are MANY brothels in Thailand but a bar is not a brothel nor does it have a pimp, nor is the bar owner being paid in any way shape or form for the services of sex by his employees. A bar fine is about the girl leaving the bar and not working in the bar. It is 100% legal in Thailand as is prostitution in entertainment areas if done right. A bar fine is not all that much and equivalent to a few drinks. The girls in the bars in places like Soi Cowboy are paid a salary regardless if they leave the bar or not.

Again, you may have a point to make, especially with some bars and the issue of exploiting women, but the comparison to a Pimp is way way way off. There are MANY MANY owners and people make money off working girls in Thailand. A bar operating legally in an entertainment area does not demand that as part of employment that a girl perform sex with customers and a bar fine has nothing to do with what, if any sex, is performed with a customer but simply how long a girl is gone from the bar. They don't get a percentage of what a girl alone works out with the client. They don't get paid for sex period! Trust me when I tell you that it is not all that uncommon for men to pay a bar fine and not have sex but only want company ... but the bar fine doesn't change.

Typical farang bar owners are not forcing women to work for them or forcing any women to have sex. However, these bars do provide a safe place for working girls to meet men and without being forced to do anything they don't want to do.

Certainly this cannot be said of ALL farang run bars but it is what is typical and perfectly legal in Thailand. It is not about getting around laws, it is about running a legal business.

Suppose the mama san at the bar,who takes care of the girls, recruits, sacks, pays has nothing to do with the sexual side of things????.

If a customer has doubts about the girls likes and dislikes, and wants to know what she will do in bed, the mama san will advise the customer.

The girl/boy has the right to refuse certain demands of clients. If the girl aggrees to what the customer requires, the bar fee is paid, and off they go.....suppose for a KFC.
