Yingluck Evasive On Queries About Thaksin

Don't over interpret what an third sourced called 'request' in a translation as the official Japanese statement.

The Thai government cannot request a visa for Japan for a Montenegrin citizen. Period.

They can give the Japanese authorities the feedback that they will make no problems when that Montenegrin travels to Japan.

And that feedback was probably given by the FM in an rather inofficial talk with the Japanese ambassador to Thailand.

I wouldn't call that a request by the govt.

Nor has the Thai PM to give any official statements about this or should be replaced ASAP.

So continue to stay quiet the next time you are clueless.

"The Thai government cannot request a visa for Japan for a Montenegrin citizen. Period."

Thaksin is a Thai citizen. Why wouldn't they be able to request a visa for their citizens?

The Japanese don't have to comply with the request, but that doesn't mean Thailand can't request it.

Back to the OP "Ms. Yingluck evasive", I can only say that the last 3-1/2 months have seen a lot of evasiveness on her part. It seems it's still too early, not the right time, wait and see, give us a chance (at what?).

From the OP I gather as a 'hands off' managing style as PM, although I hope someone will justify actions to her. "I let them do their jobs and am never involved," she said about Thai authorities handling Thaksin and Japan.

She insisted Thaksin was invited by Japan's private sector before she took power and the visa was granted based on the judgement of Japanese authorities. This conviniently ignores the Japanese saying they granted the visa on express request of the Thai government.

One of these days the Thai government might find the time to further detail their policies for helping the Thai people. Shouldn't be too early to start doing something

If I were Thai I would be embarrassed about my leader; the way I felt under W Bush.

so you compare her to bush (the massive war mongering scumbag) after just a couple of days in office

get real

You're quiet correct. It's way too early to start looking for the 'mission accomplished' banner :-)

so if Thaksin has been invited by Japan to give a speech and tour the earthquake sites, I wonder why he was not asked ealier. Wouldn`t he come across as being more caring if he had flown there sooner and perhaps maybe even made some donation.

What is so sad is that the vast majority of bright energetic talented Thai people who aren't part of the hiso world will continue to be sacrificed to the painted faced hiso bitches who strut and preen and contribute nothing. What the hisos don't realise is that if they unleashed the 'lower classes' everyone would get richer.

I agree with your sentiment BUT............ the lower classes have already been unleashed, that's a good thing. The bad thing is they are led by the hi-so Shinawatra clan, provincial hi-sos and their cling-on toadies. Too bad they don't have a true "Man of the Soil" to lead them in a modern day "Peasants Revolt' (England 1381 - led by Wat Tyler)

Here's part of what Wiki says:

"The revolt later came to be seen as a mark of the beginning of the end of serfdom in medieval England, although the revolt itself was a failure. It increased awareness in the upper classes of the need for the reform of feudalism in England and the appalling misery felt by the lower classes as a result of their enforced near-slavery."

There are some near parallels in this country I feel.

As an aside, however, the Thai wai by the country folk is the equivalent of ' touching the forelock' a sign of subservience and respect.

However respect is usually earned not granted.

three of the first five threads - now - have Thaksin in their title. It's keeping with his plan to keep his name and mug on as many news outlets as possible. He's a publicity hound, if ever there was one. I wish his sister, the current PM luck. It appears she's trying to do right for Thailand and its people, but at the same time she's mega-hamstrung by having her heavy headed brother like a meat necklace on her shoulders. The sooner she breaks from him and shows she's can be an independent thinker, the better. But alas, won't happen. Family commitments and lust for money take precedence over all else here in Asia.

To mention Thaivisaforum was a joke. Here you can here the voices that the UK has "officially banned" Thaksin because he is a criminal and terrorist.

Is that the case? Does the UK officially consider Thaksin as a criminal and a terrorist? Not to my knowledge.

Here. Gain some knowledge.

Former Manchester City FC owner Thaksin Shinawatra banned from Britain

http://www.telegraph...om-Britain.html

I can quote it correctly, but we have good data bank specialists. When Mr. T. sold Manchester City he forgot to pay the tax for his sale. The new owners of the Club had problems with the sale and answered diplomatically:

http://www.guardian....-thaksin-sacked

Sorry.

That article is about what the new owners of a football club think about the previous owner of the football club.

None of them are UK government officials or even British.

They question is not about what football club owners or football fans think about Thaksin, but official government statements.

Why would the UK government issue an official statement? He's a nobody.

I too appreciate hammered oft-repeated sentiments of late that the media and the public in general should focus on other more important matters besides Thaksin, but i don't think it helps when you have from various government sources contradicting statements, from one day to the next. Stop treating the public like imbeciles. Stop with the blatant bullsh*tting. It's quite simple, just follow the law. Do that and then perhaps then we can all focus on more pressing matters. Otherwise, expect it to remain a hot topic.

Moreso given the underlying reason for Peua Thai's victory - the right or wrong perception that the elite didn't treat the public with respect.

ELITE?! So all of southern thailand are elite?! Try educated, or at the minimal, having some common sense. No respect? Care to explain?

Don't blame Thaksin that he has so much fans who like to to talk about him all day.

Yep, that is my point. There are no foreign countries that 'care' about Thaksin in the sense that they consider him as the arch criminal and the terrorist and declare him to a persona-non-grata for that reason.

For the law enforcement of foreign countries Thaksin is a 'nobody' with no record and not sought by Interpol or so.

You understand what many here don't get.

Also, removed a post that claimed other(s) were paid to post. If you have any actual evidence please forward it to support. If it's just a lame debating tactic, further references like that may find you without posting rights.

Gemini, I was trying to be neutral by not attributing any degree of judgement to this perception - but I'm sure you're aware that the perception exists among many in this country, as suggested by Peua Thai's victory. As it happens, I believe that the perception is wrong, and that Peua Thai represent another "elite" who want the poor to stay poor at least as much as the anonymous "amataya" that they keep going on about. Also, I live in the South and am too well aware how southerners view this perception - much as I do!

Thaksin was banned from the UK because of his corruption charges. Or are you saying there was some other reason his visa was revoked days after his conviction?

Your 'no country cares in the sense of considering him being a criminal' is not the same as jonclark's "he's a nobody".

I would assume most countries don't care about k. Thaksin at all. Only when he seems to be bent on mischief which may or may not upset some, they will either tell him to shut up or move out.

Of course our new PM Ms. Yingluck knows nothing of this, probably still waiting for reports from others before she is willing to be more than her by now customary Ms. Evasiveness

K. Thaksin has gone on record saying he didn't apply for asylum, he might apply, he did apply and a few more like that. When it became clear that the British government would be serious in prohibiting him from making political statements while being in the 'asylum process', he withdrew his request. At that point the UK government revoked his visa.

Something along these lines. Look it up, I won't, it's 00:20 already

And that seemed to be the yardstick in every developed country in which he was allowed to spend any time: You can stay/visit, but no open stirring of the pot in Thailand while you're here.

She "knew nothing about the visa"? Honesty and integrity are obviously important to her.

My feeling is that more and more, she knows nothing about anything....How could she know anyway, as she is only here on behalf of someone else?

If she doesn't, then she is incompetent, a poor leader not doing one's job, and needs replaced ASAP.

Q: What is the job of a Thai PM when the Japanese authorities gave a Montenegrin citizen a Visa?

A: Not the business of a Thai PM.

Next question. (No need to ask if someone has Prostate cancer)

Q: Who requested the visa?

A: New Phuea Khwai gov't.

Q: Who should know what's goin' on?

A: The new PM (she's the younger sister with the silver spoon in her mouth)
