The Rels

Featured Replies

After expecting all sorts of dramas with the recent visit of the missus' mama, I was surprised at how pleasant the stay actually was. Several people spoke of horror stories when visiting the rels in their village, and I suppose we've all heard them, but the ones I've heard have mainly been about the expectations upon the farang wallet. So, I'd be intrigued to hear of Bedlamites' horror stories of visists to the village. Come on folks - reveal all!

No village visits, brother in law and sister in law lived right next door for about 13 years, parents about 3k down the road.

Can't say horror stories, except for the <deleted> brother in law and his sneaky backstabbing wife (:P) I get along with the rest of the family just fine.

nope not got any horror stories either, mil is a nutty old bat but cute & kind, BIL is helpful & sweet but has no gumption, sis in law is the only real blot on the landscape, got knocked up at 16, left the kid with mil, dissapeared with a thai guy from the south & has been with him ever since, produced 4 more kids but he knocks her around so she rock up about once a year, sometimes with a child or 2 in tow swearing that she has left him for good then runs back after a month but that is cause I think she is probably on the lower spectrum intellect wise. not a retard but somewhere close to the level. She like cleaning though so it's good to have her around. :whistling:

Mr Boo's older aunts & uncles are all really sweet & adore our son, they like to take care of us & often give us "pocket money" when we visit & 2 of his aunts have already handed over large parcels of land for us (and his brother) as they want to avoid any issues when they die.

It's why I am always slightly leary of the rip off stories I read on TV, they are so far removed from what I have experienced this last 11 years that I just can't get my head around them. Probably helps that I don't throw around money & Mr Boo has never looked for a free ride, we both work hard for what we have & his family have always worked. No freeloaders here. B)

Nice - thanks for the input!

Mrs. Rakers is an orphan.

She does have some family up country that try it on from time to time but they soon get put in place by the better half.

My Swiss in laws were the making of some horror film featuring midget village idiots.

Dwarf tossing - the politically incorrect sport of the '90s.

Dwarf tossing - the politically incorrect sport of the '90s.

It was in the 90's in Chiang Mai when some <deleted> Australian tourist decided to toss one of the 2 brothers, both little people who worked as doormen at John's Place, off the waterfall up Huay Kaew Road. The result was death for the little fellah and imprisonment for the <deleted>. <deleted> eventually paid a total of 400,000 thb to the police and family and was allowed to leave the country.
