Recommendable Restuarants....

Featured Replies

Several groups of teachers are going from Phayao to Mae Sai next week to do the yearly visa stuff and I was wondering if anyone can recommend a decent restaurant there. I am well aware of the hamburger and steak places on the way there and back, but what is actually there for a snack of sorts? And believe me....I will be lobbying to do a stop either on the way up, time permitting, or on the way back to try one of those highly recommended hamburgers near Mah Fah Luang University. We are taking University vans so stopping off will no problem. Any recommendations? Thanks. ett

if you go up the left side of the bridge and then make a left turn (west) up the road, there is a noodle (plus) resturant (open air) on the right and on the corner that the wife swears by. Sukothai? Food is good and rest rooms are clean.B)

There seems to be no shortage of Thai places around the bridge are.

I've eaten in most of them over the years without complaint.

We go there all the time and yes the food is excellant and cheap. It is always very busy and the Restuarant and Toilets are absolutely spottless

Thank you all for that info. I think, I may have stumbled into that one the last time I was there. Seems like there is only one shared rest room, if that is the place, and yes it was very clean. And the dish I had was good. I guess I was wondering about buffets and such. But hey, we are talking about Mai Sai, right? Can't get too picky. Again, thank you all. ett

Thanks Soap...I think I know where you are talking about. They have an overhead walkway where the soi goes underneath, on the east side of the main drag (leaving the bridge it would be on the left). We took that way back to our car last time and I noticed it was a big hotel. At first, I thought the street we took just went into a parking lot. Will check it out and report back, in case others might be interested. ett

They do a great Sunday afternoon market near immigration--if you happen to arrive a night before like I did. That was the first time I really felt like I was getting the same values as Chiang Mai. I'm usually glad to get back to CNX for restaurants.
