Veteran arrested for alleged threat against Biden

Federal authorities arrested a U.S. veteran when he got off a plane in Honolulu from Thailand today after he allegedly threatened to kill Vice President Joseph Biden earlier this year.

Justin Alan Woodward allegedly sent an email on June 22 to the White House website threatening to "kill you myself," referring to Biden, according to a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Honolulu today. The email came from a Yahoo account and was sent from a public wi-fi access point in Chiang Mai, Thailand. It also accused Biden of trying to assassinate him and "put me under mind control."

After being arrested, Woodward allegedly also told a member of the U.S. Consulate's office in Chiang Mai that he was a trained government assassin, the complaint said.

A registered nurse from a Veterans Administration clinic in Wichita, Kansas said Woodward was treated there from April 2005 to September 2009 and that he could harm himself or others without proper medication or medical care, the complaint said. Woodward then spent two years in a Kansas state hospital, a stay which ended this past March 17, the complaint said.
