Shock And Horror In A Thai House

Featured Replies

Latest horror discovered.

One of those big knife breakers out in the garage wired into the main power board and connected to a cable running to some shacks across the road ( ordinary 2.5 house cable hung in some trees ). However, the cover was absent, meaning anyone inadvertently touching the live side ( even if the breaker was off ) or holding some conducting material that did the same would be fried.

So far as I can tell, it isn't run through a circuit breaker, just an add on to the outside wire, and in any event there isn't an RCD in the circuit.

At least it's now got a plastic box covering the live terminal.

The mind boggles.

And, my wife just can't understand why I'm concerned. TIT!

Wait until you see one like that with some solid 2.5mm copper wire instaed of the "fuses" in it (if you an call them that)

" And, my wife just can't understand why I'm concerned. TIT!"

Typically, the ones who care are now dead - electrocuted, a result of faulty wiring.

You have to see how they welded my roof steel together :whistling:. Straight on the powerline , no fuse or even a guillotine switch . The wires coming out of the welding machine were also a bit too thin because they braided other wires ( no insulation ) to the original ones . The thinner wires could not handle the high amp loads very well so the insolation which was still on the remaining wire started to burn . No problem ... just put it in a bucket with water and continue ... hahaha . Not safe but it worked hahaha .

Gotta believe that God is looking out for the ignorant, as if I tried stuff like that I'd have been fried long ago!

I managed to get a better look at the wiring, and it is just tapped in to the main wires from the power pole before the wire goes into the house. Don't know how they managed that as the wires must have been live when they did it!

Oh well, put it down to TIT, along with welding without eye protection! Obviously Thai eyes are immune to arc eye, LOL.

Yes they do connect the main wires live , It is 1 of the safer things they do with elec , because they know it is dangerous , they handle it with a lot of care .

At least there was a knife switch instead of hard-wired!:whistling:
