POLICE IN UBONRATCHATHANI HAVE CONFISCATED OVER 200 MOTORBIKES DURING THIS WEEKEND'S CRACKDOWN OF RACERS

Police in Ubonratchathani have cracked down on speeding motorcyclists, and confiscated as many as 200 motorcycles.

Pol. Col. KASEMSAK HASANEE (เกษมศักดิ์ หะซะนี), the superintendent of the Ubonratchathani City police station, last night deployed policemen and pitched up checkpoints on the Jangsanit (แจ้งสนิท) road in the Muang(เมือง) district to intercept and check on speeding motorcyclists.

Motorbike gangs have been speeding and racing on roads in the area every Fridays and Saturdays, creating havoc on the road. Last night police arrested a large number of the motorcyclists , including those who were just about to hit the road to race and making loud noises. Police also nabbed motorcycles without license plates.

Last night 100 motorcycles were confiscated from the motorcyclists and another 109 have been confiscated on Friday, making the total exceed 200.

This is not uncommon.

I am not sure if the confiscation is permanent.

The racers will have to go to court or pay fines at the police station

before they can get the bikes back.

It just a technique to make sure the miscreants do face the music.
