Any news of Rama II flooded?

No, not yet but probably within a couple of days.

One major paper reports today that FROC decided that they would not try to prevent water flow onto Rama 2 Road. They said instead that they will drain water from Route 340/Bong Bua Thong-Supan Buri Road so that people can get to the South via Ratchburi.

Good luck getting to 340 if you're now in Thonburi so if you want to travel south, better leave soon LOL.

Also, no word on what will be the new makeshift bus terminal since Holland Beer Hall won't be useable.

So what is the forecast where Rama II will get flooded? Inside or outside the Kanchanapisek ring?

Here, approx. 4 km south of Bang Yai (for the cracks: N: 13° 49' 41" ● E: 100° 23' 39"), currently 1.2m in front of the house (pump keeps house a bit dryer, inside ca. 5cm). I was told, by a daring neighbor, our Soi (Soi Wat Phra Ngern) and connecting sois/roads where totally submerged (1-2 meters). Judging from what I can see/hear, NO traffic around here at all since 2 days!

GM Link Thanks! Much easier, but had to use this Arc Degrees to Decimal Degrees converter. Which floor are you on? (just kidding)

A Crack (How many millions (or was it Billions?) do you think Google spent (invested?) on/in Google Maps?)

P.S.: Quote of the Day: ... see Google

MaxYakov, do you know if there is a layer I can turn on in Google Earth to see latest flood extent?

10cm of flooding now appearing in parts of Ramkhamhaeng 152, it's moving south of Minburi and into Bangkapi via the small network of klongs

FROC is saying all of it and I haven't seen any real forecast, at least from the government, other than general "all of Thonburi" should be prepared for flooding.

But the lowest points on Rama 2 are from the Bangkok-Samut Sakhon border to a couple of km west. I would think that area would have the deepest water and be hardest to drain.

Flooding from Suk Sawat to the outer ring road might not be as bad.

I am currently on the second floor, i.e. still nice dry. Yes, I had the coords from GoogleMap --- and I still like my minutes and seconds, since the days when I was sailing West with Christophero C., to find another way to India ...

GM Link (very accurate - dead center in the Soi 69)

Sorry, no. I have only the links posted on this thread and Thai TV.

Come to think of it, they should have those TV field people wear a Lat/Lon placard (large lettering and in clear view) when broadcasting/taping.

There's a rumor that the Ministry of S & T will propose installing a 10-20 thousand-point water/depth sensor system throughout the Bangkok area. They would be scanned once a second to provide updated flood progress displays for the next Big One.

Thanks for the posit, but I'm not filling in a map - not time-budgeted.

just found one of my litters being taken care here. I never knew where they would end up. Bless that lady and everyone in those areas. I gave the puppies to locals I trusted, but never knew where they would actually be, Seem my gut feelings are OK. Made my day.

If someone knows that lady and her family and they still need a dry place I'd be glad to welcome them. It seems as if my place will get spared from the floods.

:D Give West a second shot. Is there a decent sailboat handy? (might need it just for a trip to 7/11 at least)

I heard today that all mini-vans from Kanchanaburi to BKK have stopped indefinately! What's the situation in terms of driving in to BKK from Kanchanaburi..??

This would mean heading in through Nakhon Pathom, Putthamonton, Nakhon Chaisi, Pinklao (or Rama 8).

Any advice updates much appreciated.

This is NOT TRUE. The mini-vans are still running from Kanchanaburi to BKK. I have just called the mini bus company one minute ago to verify your statement here and was told that it is not true. And my guests from Bangkok arrived today by private car themselves. So yes, it is also possible to drive from BKK to Kanchanaburi.

post-132703-0-09160300-1320491270_thumb.Our factory is at the north end of Phet Kasaem soi 126. We took a walk today from our place out to sai 5, up to the intersection of sai 5-Phet Kasaem-road 3091 (that heads down to Kratum Baen), to the south end of soi 126 and back to our place. Water is flow quite strongly down toward Kratum Baen. water depth depends where on the road you are, but along the sides of the road depths ranged from about 50 cm to over a meter. Water was flowing strongly over Phet Kasaem heading toward Kratum Baen.

Around the corner from our place looking toward sai 5; about 60 cm here.

Under the flyover the water is not deep, but the current is very strong; had to be careful crossing.

At the east end of the fyover; water was about one meter deep where I was standing and was pretty much a meter deep for the rest of the trip.

@~4.30pm, 11/05. The small klong running north-south next to Makro on Ladprao (near Mall Bangkapi). To see the exact location, please look at the google map in this link:

Klong Sam Wa sluice gate - Google Maps

Water surface is calm, moving southward to the bigger klong about 1 meter per minute.

The parking area at Makro is all dry same as outside on Ladprao Rd from this location to Imperial Department Store Ladprao. Hard to find a parking space near the entrance. More people shopping than normal.

Thanks for that Information. Our factory is Thavee Wattana Rd. Soi 9 and water is slowly rising. I was afraid that it can not escape further south and simply gets higher and higher here.

There's not much movement of the water. You could almost see there's no ripple in the picture. I was looking at some floaters on the surface and timed it roughly. But I could tell you that the bigger klong this small one flows into had some agitation. I saw it while driving over a small bridge but couldn't stop to take a picture. The water level was higher than several days ago but was still about 1 meter below the embankments.

The options through Northern Bangkok or Nonthaburi all go through currently flooded areas... Maybe another poster can help with which roads are still passable.

When do you plan to travel? I think Rama 2 Road will be OK through at at least Monday and Route 340 hasn't been drained yet.

I would expect the airport will have something set up to help people with available detours.

Today travelled up Lad Phrao Road and 6 kms from Bang Kapi mall the flooding starts. We then travelled back to Ramkamhaeng Road all the way out past Min Buri with no sign of flooding.

We have videos of Lad Phrao road and the intersection with VR Road where the bike died in deep water

but managed to resurrect it shortly after.

I'm hoping that we're both entering the window when water level stops rising. It almost exactly 3 days since we got water and people north of us say water rises for 3-5 days, maintains for 3-5 days then slowly drops.

I think we got the water Sunday (not sure as on the beginning I checked everything every hour day and night, which made me a bit loosing the track) and it is still slowly rising. From today 10 AM to 4 PM maybe 1-2 cm.

So it will a while for you!

Good look!

Edit: I think serious amounts came on Monday not Sunday

I was out in the Suwanaphum area today and everything is bone dry as far as the eye can see.

The airport is now perhaps the world's biggest parking lot -- if by some chance it were to flood, hundreds of thousands of cars, buses and taxis are going to be rendered useless (until the second-hand car mafia get organised)
