"the cost would by 506,000 baht and to fast for 24 hours. "

WOW, Dr M has put her prices up considerably.

Can't believe it, must be trading her Honda for a Merc.

Blood urine and check over plus 3 months medicines never cost me over B6,000.

A CM member has identified a Podiatrist, details are here:

399/208 Moo 3 Sa Na Meng San Sai Siriporn Garden Home 9 Soi 4 Yaek 7
Sansai, Chiang Mai, Thailand
089 633 8586

Perhaps Tywais can add to the list?

They are definitely not Podiatrists (M.D. or D.P.M.), chiang mai

They are not licensed to practice medicine in Thailand and one doctor mentioned her concern that they were apparently administering injections when they are not licenses to do so.

Interesting, thanks, I guess we wont add them to the list! I thought maybe it was too much to hope for that we might actually have a real live kicking and breathing podiatrist, oh well!

If the list is still open I would suggest adding the following at Bangkok Hospital Chiang Mai:

Prof. Dr. Apichard Sukonthasarn - Cardiologist.

Dr. Khonlakrit Khienprasit - Cardiologist.

Dr. Arisada Pitchaydechakoon - General Surgery.

Dr. Ngamwong Jarusuraisin - Adult Psychiatry

General Comment:  In a case of emergency during the weekend Ram hospital failed whereas Bangkok Hospital Chiang Mai responded very well and probably saved my life.

The list updates are closed for this round and the updated list has been posted. I'll save your recommendations for the next update in around 6 months or so.

In the subject of RAM on the weekends: There's often only one doctor in the entire hospital at nights and he's on ER duty, at times he may be with patients elsewhere in the hospital. My recommendation for emergency care after hours and at weekends is Suan Doc, they operate fully staffed round the clock.

An earlier thread mentioned Dr. Ampica Mangklabruks as a very good thyroid doctor in Chiang Mai.  I am sorry to report that my experience with her was not good.

Can anyone recommend a good thyroid doctor in Chiang Mai?

I'm very surprised to hear that, she has a very very strong reputation not only in the North but also in Bangkok, I consulted her for a couple of years and found her to be extremely good. I don't have an alternate for endocrinology, such is the strength of her reputation.

Yes, I was quite disappointed.

I'm sorry but I'm a tourist here and I read in an earlier post about Thailand's libel laws.  I do not want to compromise myself in anyway but suffice it to say I felt unheard and I am unhelped.

Hi all - hoping to get some advice. Would like to make an appointment with Dr. Ampica for a thyroid issue, but I'm not sure how to go about it. I read that she practises out of Sriphat - do I just show up and do a walk-in appointment? I understand it's a hospital, so not sure how the process works or where to go for Dr. Ampica specifically (forgive my stupid question, this is my first time seeking medical treatment in Thailand).

Thanks for your help!

Yes, just go the 13th floor of Sriphat and tell the receptionist you want an appointment with Dr Ampica and she will schedule you, probably that same day.

Thank you kindly!

And thank you to the admins and contributors of this board. It's been immensely helpful!

I find it very very odd that somebody, a person with only a handful of posts to their name, would dedicate most of them to sullying the reputation of a well known and highly regarded doctors name yet be unable to describe even vaguely or loosely the nature of the problem citing libel laws as  the reason why! And since you are the only person since we started the pinned list of doctors project in 2011 to speak negatively of this doctor, I'm going to take the position that you are posting nonsense and rubbish for reasons best known only to you. Don't post again in this thread, on this subject or I'll ask you be removed!

Bear in mind doctors are human and like all human beings occasionally have an "off" day.

Yes. I totally understand that and maybe it just wasn't a good match.  In any case, I was only trying to provide a differing view and ask for help.  I have no interest in sullying anyone's reputation which is why I responded in such a vague manner.

I joined this group to share my differing experience which I am clear in understanding is not appreciated. Because I found the doctor HERE, and it didn't work out for me, I thought I'd post HERE and ask for HELP.  Sullying any reputation is exactly NOT what I did.  Specifically, I was trying to avoid sullying by not being more specific.

This topic welcomes constructive feedback regarding doctors on the pinned list, constructive being the operative word. In order to add new doctors to the list we typically look for two or three recommendations from members in order to be assured a doctor is worthy of inclusion - ditto, removal of a doctor requires a firm case from several members spelling out the details of why they should be removed and/or did not perform as required, it is easily possible to do that without contravening the libel laws of Thailand and without appearing to unnecessarily and unjustifiably tarnish someone's abilities and standing.

I'm sorry that the doctor in question didn't work out for you, as stated earlier we don't have record of an alternate endocrinologist, I'm also sorry that you didn't take the opportunity to expand on the reasons for your dissatisfaction when you had the opportunity and to clearly distinguish yourself as not being in that small camp of posters who criticise just for the sake of it. You've PM'd me on this subject making your feelings known, my answer is here in full and I now regard this matter as closed.

So, I went to Sriphat as directed, and tried to make an appointment with Dr. Ampica. I was told that she's not in until 5:00pm, but that I have to show up at 6:30am, and wait in the queue to make sure I'm seen. I'm a bit confused, because I was told all this despite making an appointment. So I have to arrive at 6:30am and wait until 5pm to make sure I don't lose my appointment slot? Very confused. Does anyone know if I can just show up, take a number, and then go back in the afternoon, or do I have to sit it out for 10 hours?

I think you misunderstood, the queue opens at 6:30am and patients can start to get queue numbers any time after that, obviously the sooner you collect your queue number the quicker you will be seen after 5pm when the doctor arrives - there is not requirement for you to remain in the building once you have your number, simply get your number, go away and do your thing for the day and return at 5pm.

Thank you! Yes, I went this morning and that's exactly what happened. Looks like it was an initial miscommunication when I first tried to get an appointment. Whew!

In my seemingly never-ending quest to figure out my medical issues, I've now been told to make an appointment with an internist (internal medicine). I see in the recommended doctor's page in this forum, and in past threads, that Dr. Sharin from the Savitri-Sharin clinic is a good choice. Has anyone seen him recently, and can confirm that his clinic hours (Hours Daily 9:00AM – 12:00PM and 5:00PM - 8:00PM) are still up to date? My Thai is very much a work in progress, so not able to find recently updated info online. Also, in terms of consultation fee (sans medication), is he much more expensive than other doctors? I am just wanting to prepare myself.
Many thanks!
