Where are places to find ordinary outdoor clothes suitable for doing manual labor outside? Basically farmers clothes, long sleeves for sun protection, hats, gloves, that sort of thing. Bonus question: any places worth a look for camping type stuff?

Camping stuff? There's a so/so place on the bottom floor of Fortune Tower, underneath the BigC, not exactly Mountain Equipment Co-op like back home but they have most basics. A Mountain Equipment specialty place would do well here I'd wager.

Used to be a decent place in Ploenchit Center opp Marriot but they're renovatiing the bldng and not sure if the place remained??

Well, Siam Discovery has a North Face outlet with some camping basics too. Prices for what they carry are heavily marked up however. I don't need any expensive to begin with imports like that. Just lookin for everyday stuff to get the job done.

Somebody posted a link to this place a while back: Adventure Equipment Asia which claims to be in Bangkok and seems to list some reasonable equipment. I never looked into the place, so cannot say it is actually any good or not.

I have often seen basic camping stuff for sale in Carrefor. Tents, sleeping bags and foam rolls etc. Worth a look I'd say.
