You're joking right?

The ER-6* has some 72 BHP versus the CBR600F's 100 BHP. Although it is some 1446 GBP more expensive, it has 39% more power for only being 26% more costly...one of the few times that you get to go up and not spend a lot more money.

Real question is whether there's going to be a crazy import tax on the bike or whether or not the UK pricing remains in effect (which would still make it a bit rich at 340 000+ THB).

Cool. Nice bike, kind of like a Japanese made inline 4 version of the Ninja 650.

You know your bikes so I'll assume the comment about being as fast as the ER6n was tongue in cheek. These bikes fall midway between the 650 twins and the full on 600 super sports, probably closer to the supersports so this bike would walk all over a Kawi 650 twin, it makes around 100 hp.

I suspect the price will reflect that though, I' guessing it will be a similar price to the FZ6 between 400 and 500k baht.

Can't wait to see the Honda Showroom in Bangkok when it opens. I'll be driving past tomorrow so I'll check the progress.

Dear god, please let that bike be priced high, lets say 400,000B.

If it's Under 350,000B i'm going to hang myself for just buying a 2012 Kawasaki Ninja 650...........

I cant wait to see it in our local dealers. I don't think Honda is going to make the price tag over 300k baht I'm hopping to see it at the 240K baht

made in Thailand by Honda the price seems very reasonable.

I dont know man, i think it will be competitively priced to compete with the er6n...probably a bit less since its not the 'RR'

Honda would be shooting itself in the foot if it was more expensive with less cc's...

Time to sell the 150...!...Good things come to those who wait... i sold my 600rr because i knew i was riding too psycho, so this seems like a good compromise to remain half psycho.

It's currently being made in Italy and production has only recently started, you really think they'll move production to Thailand?

i say some stupid shit when im drunk...

i think it would come in around 350k also. Unless they do something silly and turn it into a 2 cylinder.

Then at that price the Ducati Monster would have some competition, maybe thats what they're aiming for???

I drove by yesterday. Not finished yet. Nut coming along.

it will be made in Thailand

What makes you say that? Last I heard Honda has no plans to make anything more complex than singles in Thailand. I rather expect it will be quite some time (years) before Honda thinks about making inline fours here.

So, IF this bike is sold in Thailand it will be an import and I expect the price will be around 500k Baht.

What about the CBR-400? Anybody find any more information on that rumor?

There are rumors of March, but unless it's an inline four (which is very unlikely) then there are already better options available in Thailand. Given Hondas recent offerings it will most likely be a fuel efficient commuter bike. Probably a single. Probably dull. Probably ugly. I hope I'm wrong.

I saw one photo and it looked like it had two pipes going to the header. If so, that might be a pretty sweet engine. I agree with you that if it is a single, pretty dull.

Hmm... some members here seem to know more than others... where do all these big bike rumors come from?? A CBR400, a CBR600... references? Sources?

Honda has already anounced a big wing program.

It would be good for Thailand, honda, and everyone around the world. APhonda will be able to finally supply us, the consumer with something different and affordable

Nice! Proper upside-down forks, what looks like a good rear shock geometry, and a Honda 600 four-banger mill. If they bring 'er into showrooms for a decent price, Kawi, be very afraid...

Well the FZ6 is around 490,000baht here isn't it and the CBR600F is more expensive so I'd be surprised if it was less than 500k.

This ( hopefully real ) offering from Honda is far more exciting the lateset 'yawn' of little bikes that are available.

I also would like to see an in-line four in it, not an agricultural power plant.

That Big Wing has been mooted for years, i guess they stopped it due to the world economic downturn (or whatever name they call it now). APe Honda hasn't bother even updating the website for months.

If you look at the bike sales (registration?) figures released by the Thailand Dept of Land Transport for last year, you will see that bikes in the 150cc and over category account for only 0.5% of all the 2,001,044 bikes registered. That is, a total of 11,010 bikes over 150cc were registered (they don't break down the figures anymore for over 150cc). Considering that the CBR250 accounted for 5,426 of that 11,010 and then you can see it is a very, very small market. So basically about 400 scooters are sold for every 'big bike'. i don't know the mark up of a big bike but it certainly is not gonna make up for the profit gained from selling 400 scooters. Or the aggravation. And we wonder why they don't listen to farang banging on about big bikes!! laugh.png

CBR150 9,327

CBR250 5,426

Kawasaki 3,548 over 150cc

Yamaha 130 over 150cc

Ducati 270

Harley 235

BMW 186

Suzuki 13 over 150cc

Triumph 112

Of the just over 2 millionf bikes registered in Thailand in 2011 around 1.3 million were Hondas in the 101-125cc division.

Good post.

+99% of Thais will buy a car if having the money and not a big bike. Thais are slowly gaining interest for big bikes, bike clubs culture & life style, go on trips in the weekend and so on, but still most will buy the boring pick-up truck due to practicality.

As much as i'd like a bigger bike, i think i would rather spend the money on a boring car or pickup to have some chance of staying alive!!

It is a good point that you make, if there are more choices of bigger bikes then it will create more interest and possibly more sales.

Interesting figures on big bike sales .... and it seems to reflect what we see in the street. Lets be honest, whenever we hear a big bike engine we stop and stare to see what it is, could you imagine doing that in the US or UK?

The latest Honda launches seem to match or beat the competition in all sectors except over 250. With such low sales there may only be room for one 650cc model in the market?

But a 400 might just find a niche if it was priced right? So that would mean it would have to cost significantly less than an ER6, meaning one or two cylinders.

I sold my big bike (Harley) and will properly never buy a big bike again for the same reason. I got kids now and they come first any day but I have fond memories of the trips up North on itsmile.png

My next bike will very likely be the mighty 150cc PCX, he-he.

When we go North nowadays its in the boring tin can car, sadly.sad.png

Having kids means you can't ride anymore? That's a bit sad...

My older son loves to go on tours and attend track events. We usually tour in large groups with support vehicles so the risk is really quite small.

What are you talking about?

Honda sold 5426 units of one model (the CBR 250R) versus 3548 units off all of Kawasaki's big bikes (KLX250, D-Tracker 250, Ninja 250, ER-6N, ER-6F *NInja 650*, Versys, and their cruiser). To give a proper prespective, Honda sold 49% of ALL greater than 250cc bikes in LOS. Now if you were talking about the quality of the bike (excitement factor or QA) than that's a different discussion that has been talked about ad nauseum in the thread.

I agree about the 600 bike though; unless it is made here in LOS there is no way that it will be offered in a price segment for most Thais to afford. The sales numbers will definitely favour the ER-6* bikes in this instance.

I am thinking that the 400 rumours are just that, rumours. If there is substaniated information that it is being made in Thailand, and becomes available at a decent price, than I will skip the CRF that is supposed to come although it would probably be a better bike for me considering where I live.
