Anyone have a an idea where to get the Pushbars for pickups at? Just got a new pickup a few months back and want to get a decent one at a good price.

just in case you don't know what im talking about...pushbars are those chrome guards around the front of a truck...most Thais have them on thier trucks.

Got the idea after a motorbike clipped my truck and left a scratch in it....

Sorry should mention I live in Nonthaburi

BTW, do they sell them with spikes? :o

It seems like I've seen a couple of places on Tiwanon Road between Kae Lai and Pakgret. Also, there's a shop on Chaengwattana at the southeast corner of the expressway crossing.

Push bars, bull bars or Roo bars......they all greatly increase the probability of serious injury in an accident especially with pedestrians, they can also get pushed back and cause increased damage to your bodywork in an accident...they transmit the shock to places on the vehicle that the designers did not intend and reduce the vehicle's ability to deal with a crash as the designers intended resulting in interference with crumple zones, and distortion to the chassis. They increase fuel comsumption due to extra weight and poorer aerodynamics, increase the length of the vehicle making it a little more difficult to park, in many countries they are illegal - even Ausralia is thinkingabout or going to do this.

Having said that, they seem to be avaiable about every 10 yards along every road in Thailand...I can't believe you haven't noticed! Maybe your town is the exception...

So I take it your against them :o

Well, They are definately NOT on every ten foot of road here. I've live in a suburb of bangkok.

As for all those dangers... welll. I don't plan on getting one with a flying buttress, just something simple , hehe.

Take the road out towards Chonburi/Bang Na....

The problem is these are not manufacturers parts...you may find that the local dealer for your model can come up with something. The current compromise is plastic ones...they will protect you from those annoying little dings and are less vicious when coming into contact with children (it's children who are most at risk as their heads are on the same level as the metal bars). Any self respecting dealer/manufacturer should reccomend those plastic ones. The other place to look is in any one of the myriad motor magazines and find a Bkk supplier.....usually a 4wd specialist.

So there you go - but remember - simple is as simple does...
