What laptimes were posted by the 1st place stock 650's and the modified 650's?

did any one ride a stock and modified 650 in each class? Just curious to see the lap differences between modified and stock (with the same rider) :)

No Karlos, both series were in the same race.

I did try and go on to mylaptimes dot com but it wouldn't load properly.

The guys who finished 1st and 2nd were within half a second or each other and fastest lap was 1:11.xx

Colin's the fastest man on an ER6n in Thailand and was within .01 of cracking 1:10 on Saturday. (But hes racing as a pro in SB1 Superbike so isn't allowed to race in the Kawasaki fun races anymore...)

My fastest lap is only 1:14.xx, so as mentioned before, I have a lot of work to do!

There's no money in 650 racing- it's all for fun! :D

The difference between stock and modified classes are not really clear, but as for laptimes there wouldn't be alot of difference i would think given the same rider. Unless by stock you mean exactly as it comes off the showroom floor (ie. tires, suspension). The winner of the race was actually using stock suspension and his upgrades were weight loss (around 10kg), gearing and PCV.

On my bike i've stripped it down so it weights about 178kgs, YSS rear shock, ZX10 brake calipers and Slick tires...My fastest lap at BIRA is 1:10.01 but i think a 1:09 would be possible in race conditions

Fantastic stuff, can't wait for Monday's session to at least try and get that second corner sorted - man I lose so much time round that bend!!

Cheers Tony wai.gif

Sending these pics to England so my mother can have a heart attack giggle.gif

Do you have to have those models to race? Like a ninja 650 cant race in the er-6n race?

Is there any races for older bikes like a NSR 150 SP?

650 Ninja and er6n race together.

Mondays are generally for public use where you can race against anything that turns up on the day alexpoker.

Come along and have a blast. wai.gif

This is a Kawasaki event.

There are probably other series where you might be able to enter an NSR, though off the top of my head I can't really think of any... Perhaps in the R2M classic series at Thailand Circuit?

How many events does kawasaki have per year? Dont have the money for it right now, but when I do get my next bike, I want to have in mind how many races I can participate in. Want my next bike to be in the 600cc class, but would prefer a true supersport if I can ever afford it and would be awesome to be able to race.

Here's a pretty good summary of all the Kawasaki events sheduled for 2012-

FWIW, Kawasaki doesn't sell the ZX6R in Thailand but if you pick one up you can try to qualify and race it in SB3.

BBB,

Can't race a 600cc in the superbike class anymore, but now they have started a supersport (600cc) class. At BIRA the supersport race is mixed in with the SB1/SB2 race and at thailand circuit its mixed with the Superstreet race.

Did you get lapped by Colin? (Just kidding I hear he's going fast).

Race video! I was 3rd on the starting grid and finished third. Once the leaders pulled away there isn't much to see until I start lapping some stock guys later in the race. Enjoy smile.png

Can't race at Kawasaki events now that i race Superbike SB1, Just went down for a few fun laps on Saturday and then watched the races on Sunday

Alex, I know a supersport 600 would be a dream bike to compete on, but as it stands currently there are very very few people using these bikes to race in thailand, hence if you bought one, you might well end up racing round and round on your own. not fun.

I still maintain that the best bang for your buck racing will come from buying a ER6n or Ninja650. you can race them in the R2M supernaked class, approximately 5 race meetings per year. you can race them in the all the kawasaki events, dont know how many a year but would guess 4-5 per year.

Also if you end up crashing, then repairing your ER6 n will be A LOT cheaper than trying to source broken parts on a sports 600 or 1000. trust me on that one hahaha!!

So in short I believe they are perfect for entry level/beginner racing. Me and Newf, both competed in this years R2M supernaked series and came 1st and 2nd respectively in the end of year standings in our first year of circuit racing...Its great fun.

I am in chiang mai if you want to talk about getting into the racing scene here, so pm me if you want.. I think I go to the same language school as you anyway!

Nice meeting you at the school Luke and thanks for all the informative posts guys! Also keep those vids/pics coming. The only fun thing left on these boards lol

Nice one! Wow, your GoPro on the handlebar is really smooth. See you at BIRA on Monday! Let the Good Times ROLL! T :D

Good God,, I'm chopping at the bit.

I used to club race about 20 years ago.

Suzuki 250 x7 and a GS1000 ( Weisco 1085), my brother in law is well up for a race series and he he is the right age (21).

I,m hoping to buy a bike in Korat and turn it into a track day tool.

Problem is I don't live in Thailand

Have you tried Johor Circuit?

Looks like a fun track and seems a popular choice for Singapore-based bikers like yourself.

I'd like to try it some day, but it's a bit of a ride from Bangkok ;)

See you at my place at 8am kap.wai.gif

Thanks for that.

I have heard of the place but never been.

Will have to make some enquiries.

Found it.

Just need to get some kit together and take the Street Triple along. A bit concerned about going alone cos if I bin it at the track, I,m stuck in another country.

Oh yeah, will have to choose my time between my wife and my kids.
