I am having to check out of my hotel in the morning before meeting up with my buddy at the airport at 5pm to catch our flight out to Phuket. Are there safe places in Bangkok where one could lock up their luggage or leave it securely. Don't really want to be lugging around my bag all day while I do some shopping and sight seeing.

I never heard of a hotel that wouldn't quite routinely hold the luggage of a departing guest until he's ready to collect it. Just ask them.
