Wire Mesh...

Featured Replies

Anyone know where to buy in Bangkok.....need about 1 inch square with plastic coating or powder coated type.....

Obviously I don't where you live in BKK, but as you drive around keep your eyes open for the shops that sell all the Thai style garden tools and general construction tools etc. You maybe know the things I'm on about, garden hoes and hose ! , spades, shovels, big black tubs they mix cement in. Take a look inside and you will probably find what you're looking for.

Failing that some of the larger stores, Home Pro etc may do it the gardening section

Cheers

No, none of them have it....the stuff I want is a bit more specialised.

They have mesh, the galvanised stuff.....but it rust and is to weak for what I want....need stronger and plastic or powder coated.

Know what you mean, makes me think along the lines of,-- If we sell plastic or powder coated then it will last too long and we won't sell anymore for a long time-- or , is it just that I've been here too long?angry.png

It does seem hard to find what the OP is looking for. I ended up buying 1/2 inch galvanized mess to run on the inside of my iron fence to keep the small dogs in (or out). But before I installed it I cut each piece to length, rolled it up, spray painted it with rust proof primer, and then green enamel paint....just the stuff in the spray can you can buy at any hardware store...not expensive at all. So far after approx 8 months I don't have any signs of rust anywhere...and some portions of the fence/the wire was under a few inches of water for several weeks when the flood late last year hit my moobaan.

HomePro used to have it - don't know if they still do though because I haven't been to their stores for a long time. :)

The HomePro's I visited didn't have what the OP was looking for...but different HomePro's have different selections of things...HomePro did have some galvanized mesh wire that was "way overpriced." I ended up buying my 1/2 inch wire mesh at Global...and the "exact same thing/same wire/same manufacturer/same 1/2" wire mesh" was approx 50% higher at HomePro. But hey, I bought some Square D RCBO's at HomePro last week but the exact same RCBO cost about 5% more at Global. Usually good to shop around for the best price if time and project permits.

No, the consumer is to blame. Consumer sees two types of fence at the store. Asks which is cheaper. Buys it. Doesn't ask or care why. Cheaper is always considered better in Thailand. I find the chicken wire available in Thailand to be worthless; gauge is too small and rusts out too quickly in this climate. I also see a green painted chicken wire, but they cleverly reduce the gauge of steel making it pitifully weak even though it looks as thick as the regular due to the thick coat of paint on it.

An expensive option to add to the mix is various small shops around China town sell rolls of stainless steel mesh of all sizes. 500-1000 baht / square meter.

Probably not very helpful to you but I have seen some in Pattaya....smile.png but it was only in 1 metre lengths by a couple of different widths.
