ALLSAT 2009A digital cable box

Featured Replies

hello - i am a bit out of water with all this

I have a ALLSAT 2009A digital cable box

the instruction book says LAN connection OK done that

plug into the wall socket - but - do i need a dish? do i need an LNB and is it K or C or both?

it says on the box cable - does this work as satellite too?

I am in Jomtien

I emailed the sat shop and no reply

maybe someone here can help me out?

thanks

Cable boxes and Satellite boxes are different beasts.

As far as I know there is no compatible cable system in the Pattaya area

it only exists in Bangkok. Who is the shop that sold it to you?

You will need a satellite receiver and suitable dish.

The size of dish and whether the LNB is Ku band or C band depends

on the stations you want to receive.

I have separated your topic as it is not directly True related

The 2009A looks like it's a satellite receiver so you'll be needing a dish and a TrueVisions smartcard (if you want to watch True stuff).

True have recently started marrying their cards to a particular receiver so it's possible you won't get it to work at all, I don't think true still do the card-only subscription for new customers :(

Talk to the shop that sold it. they should install and set up for you for a nominal fee.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

unfortunately the shop sells and doesnt support

when i asked for refund after 24 hours it was no

thai style = problem yours we have our money

I contacted the supplier in China and much the same thing they sell but dont support

maybe i should take it to another shop and have them play around with it - break it and give it back and say no good no work

A neighbor uses one of these in a DVB-C application. it works fine.

Do you have cable? Why did you buy this device?

They are popular and in demand so you should have no problem re-selling.

They are selling for 4,000 (Thai forums) - 4,800 (Khlong Thom).

well - i wasnt at my condo and did this from afar

the condo tech said i need a cable box and so (i should have known better) i said go ahead

needless to say it didnt work and he then ignored me.

I paid another tech to look into it

and he said it doesnt work

thanks I already new that

I then contacted someone through a thai blog site and bought an ORTON

and it work

I now have the Allsat in another condo and as I paid for it I am trying to figure out what it does as i can give it to a friend.

I am beginning to understand that it is for connecting to a cable network but when i look in the menu it says under antenna that I can connect to C-Y and this may mean that a dish with an LNB on C band might work.

Am I correct in thinking this?

Any help much appreciated.

Sorry, the label clearly says Cable Receiver

As far as I know the only real Cable network is in Bangkok and run by True,

who now tie the card to their own box. :bah:

Sell it quick
