Busiest Days On The Road During Songkran

Featured Replies

What do you all think would be the busiest days on the roads over the Songkran festival? Monday, 09th April is a bank holiday but the next three days are working days before it all starts on Friday, 13th April. Will the roads be very busy as well, say on Tuesday, 10th April?

I would advise getting an early start and stopping about noon. Being a holiday it is the booze that is the problem.

Won't have reached my destination by noon. But as I'll be well out of Bkk, I guess it should be a bit better, especially if they continue to stay in drinking.

For some reason the busiest road during Songkran tends to be whichever one I'm on.

I always try to leave Bangkok between 2am and 5am, but during drunkathons would probably advise shifting that from 4am-7am.

There is no good time to be on the roads during the Drunkathong. Only 'less bad' times.

Don't drive the bike during Songkran unless you enjoy the odd bucket of water containing ice cubes thrown in your face!! never happened to me but I saw a guy in front of me nearly lose control of his bike, luckily no accident!!
