Nice Shopping Center Near Suv Airport?

See Air Asia's low-down on Bangkok shopping malls.

Sounds like a stopover form hell to me, but as a non-serial shopper I have been impressed by Seacon Square on Srinagaridra Road - about half way between the Siam Paragon area in central Bangkok and Suvaranabpum Airport - probably about 150 baht taxi ride and 20 minutes by highway from the airport (maybe pus a 40 baht toll if you opt for the highway, which saves only about 5 minutes) outside the rush hour. Up to double that time in rush hour

From memory there is a Renaissance (or is it Radisson?) hotel accross the access road on the northern side of the mall. It looks like a convention type hotel, but might be reasonable rates given its slightly out of town location. It looks clean, modern and compact - ie not gigantically impersonal like US convention spots. It looks like an easy less-than-5-minute-walk to me. Otherwise there are mansion-type hotels in the vicinity that would be less than 1,000 baht a night and a 50 baht motorbike taxi ride away. I think there is a Novotel 2k south of there also - where SriNagarindra crosses the BangNa-Trat highway. You'll need to research on Google and Agoda.com or Asiarooms.com for the hotel, then ask the hotel about getting to Seacon Square - they'll all know it.

{I'm not a Bangkok Resident but my wife likes to visit a slimming centre at Seacon Square!}

Edit: sorry should have spotted that you are a TV regular - I was talking to you like you were a newbie tourist! We have stayed at The Bedrooms Hotel (1500 baht ish and a good midrange option) in On Nut and used taxis or songthaews from there to Seacon - 30 to 40 mins and 150 baht or 40 baht.

Very much like Fashion Island - very clean with vendor to Robinson type stores and a new upscale mall opening soon directly in back. Very busy on weekends but weekdays easy to get around. Google has several hotels in easy reach (all hotels on North side of airport could be used) as this is located on Outer Ring Road (9) and route 304 junction.

Most helpful , all of your tips. Although I am a TV regular I know nothing about BKK and although I dislike shopping, at times I want things which I can´t get in Chiang Mai. In particular I like wearing easy wear from Odlo, Northern Face, GoreTex etc. good quality synthetics, perfect for this climate.

Paradise Park on Srinakarin is good, one of Bangkok's better malls in my opinion. The aforementioned Seacon Square is also right next to it and is huge, but very Thai-style so expect lots of blaring speakers and flashing screens. Actually I find it quite an unpleasant place to visit, but other people like it.

The Dusit Princess hotel is next to Seacon Square and is a nice hotel, so you could stay there and easily walk to both Seacon and Paradise Park. These are all about 20 minutes ftom the airport by taxi.
