For sure, I started the thread last time to discuss Big-C and Tesco Lotus.

And for this time I will talk about the 7-11.

There are three of 7-11s near my house. They are very good. I am very happy with the 7-11 in Thailand.

I can buy

a. potato chips (or maybe you say crisps)

b. lots of different milk and fruit juice

c. good bread

d. good meals for cooking in the microwave oven

e. butter

But now I go only only to the two 7-11 shops near my house. I do not go so often to the third 7-11 because the girls in the shop spy on me and are talking about me my behind my back. I think so you know what I mean.

But this is not a problem for me because the third 7-11 does not sell butter and I do not want to go there anyway. Ha ha!

so if i say what everyone is thinking i will get banned but OP can make posts like this with no punishment?

I do not understand your message but I lam living in ISAAN which is sometimes called the north east of thailand.

And shopping for me and my wife is not always so easy but with the 7-11 it is good because we can buy everything for us and our children.

And for sure, it is good to live in Thailand!!!

I usually send the nieces to the 7-11 for ice and hot dogs as the place gives me the creeps...a horrible sense of unreality pervades...

...and i just learned from the op that the girls there are spies !ph34r.png

All on that list (from 7 and most other places) is rubbish. 'Good' should not be included.

Op sounds as though he/she does have a blinder of a life, though. whistling.gif

O you might think that the Op is not a native English speaking person , an is making a good faith effort to communicate with you.in your language..

you think that it deserves punishment?, , in my opinion it, deserves encouragement. .

A 7-11 is a convenient store for all the times you don't want to drive to Big C , that is why in my country they are called convenience stores.

I don't think it matters whether his English was perfect or terrible. What was the point of the post and does anybody really care. Drivel like this puts you off opening topics....... saai.gif

You can buy good bread if your definition of good bread is that with 7% sugar, packed full of chemical preservatives, poorly made (I genuinely do not believe they prove it properly due to texture and taste) sponge that dissipates on the palate like a rice cracker from church, and toasts as well as a slice of clay.

You can buy good meals for cooking in the microwave oven but not in 7/11. The best meals to cook in your microwave are ones you make yourself and re heat. I have tried a few in 7/11 and they are all greasy and gross; more expensive than the street stall next door, not as nice, and smaller. Why do you bother?

Can buy butter at east smile.png

7/11 - Good for drinks, smokes, ice, icecream, and if you run out of dogfood and can not be bothered to walk the extra block to the pet store.

It's difficult to find good bread In Thailand, but 7/11 has probably the crappiest. Yuck!
I couldn't agree more. I love bread back home but here it is the utter pits! WAAAAY too much sugar. I have only ever found two places that don't use sugared bread, it is so hard to find (in the country–hard enough in the larger areas too I suppose)

You took the words right out of my mouth GS. 7/11 don't sell bread they sell bread shaped cardboard !

BTW if you are in Pattaya they have very good bread down in the basement at Central on Beach Rd. The walnut bread is the best I've found !

Imagine.........you're a long term expat, living in the Thai outback and the nearest proper supermarket is only 65 km away.

You just have been to the nearest 7/11 and bought some chips, a nice microwave-meal and a yogurt...........of course a beer was on the shopping list too.

Won't you be happy with a "supermarket" around? Especially at 1:25 a.m. (time of posting).

Most of us (posters) are living in urban areas where almost every 10km2 has some kind of huge shopping mall...........we just use 7/11's for utility-bill-payments and forgotten groceries.

You can all bash 7-11 all you want but ...

They are always open, prices not much higher than the supermarkets

For convenience they are perfect.

c.) good bread??? I have to travel across Bangkok to get half good bread without much choices....I doubt any 7/11 has something similar to real bread.

d.) good meals <--> cooking in microwave crazy.gifcrazy.gif If it is cooked in microwave it is convenience food......

e.) great

Sorry but 7/11s aren't exactly unique. Yes I may be happy with it (whatever supermarket is about) but I am not going to bother to post what I can get from it. Apologies if I am missing the point wai.gif

Saw this a few weeks ago. Seemed appropriate.

Sort of have to credit Boater with that one as it was from one of his threads late last year or early this year, because I remember reading it when I was in Thailand.

monsieurhappy ... you have made me very happy as now when I am homesick for some good bread I have a legitimate excuse to visit Pattaya and the Beau would have to agree!

Are there any other culinary delights only available in Patts?

Note to self ... just confirm that she doesn't like walnuts first

Doing the 7-11 shopping consists of buying beer only and on the odd occasion after the beer has taken effect perking at the shop assistants while waiting for your ham and cheese toastie to arrive.

Oh i forgot about the top ups!

In my opinion the 7-11 is really handy when urgently need something. As written before, 7-11 is a convenience store, that is fine.

But calling their bread "good" has made me surprised.I only use that bread for fishing though not sure the fish like it at all.

But their fluid bread is great.drunk.gif

My Mama always said "if you have nothing good to say, say nothing at all"

smart lady my Mom.

That is why I am a member here for 5 years and only have 384 posts.

and by the way, I care,

I am glad the Op decided to share this little delight in his life

I am tired of threads like " why cant Thais be more like us" and " why cant Thailand be more like Farang-land"

and I like 7-11, it might not be perfect, but it is always there for me.

7-11 sounds like a great concept. I assume they open at 7am and don't close until 11pm.

Where can I find one in Pattaya?
