Hua Hin Housing Devlopment

Hello all,

I am currently looking for a place to "buy" (i understand the complications here) in Thailand. I have been on holiday a few times and have decided that I would like to use Thailand as my base for a few years.

I think my choice of location will be Koh Samui or Hua Hin.

I have noticed by internet searches that there seems to be a lot of development in the Hua Hin areas. I am a bit concerned over the build quality of some of these devlopments.

I am planning to spend up to 5,000,000 baht and wish for at least 2 bedrooms.

Any advice would be most welcome.

Cheers

If you can spare the time (for 5 mil I certainly would;) best go to HH or Samui in person and kick the foundations so to speak. Also, take as much time as you need, talk to as many Expat owners as possible and maybe take a Thai interpreter to make contact with some of those for sale signs in Thai on telephone poles as well.

I could easily make recommendations on good quality projects in HH for your price range but when it comes to good realtors, developers, lawyers, etc, I generally keep my thoughts to myself to avoid any false perception of conflicts :o

Personal prediction here tho? Hua Hin will become THE most desired residence in Thailand, bar none. And deservedly so on comparison within Thailand (or Mallorca or...) Hopefully Hua Hin's unique charm remains :D

A guarantee is ultimately a piece of paper.

Your best guarantee is to visit developments and observe how something is being built, materials and quality, finishing details (joinery, tiling etc).

Vist as many as you can in as wide a price range as you can find.

I visited 10 or 11 developments and saw houses that were 2X the price of others and built to the same standards.

I saw at least one 5 million baht house where there were already cracks in the bathroom walls, the crown moldings and baseboards (skirting to the Brits) were mitered so poorly there were 1/4 inch gaps in the corners.

And, location location location.

Hi johnnyk

Out of all the developments you visited did you find something suitable with a quality build and if so would you mind letting me know the good projects (In your opinion) as I would like to investigate buying in HH.

ps. Does the buying of property include setting up a company as ownership?

John
