4evermaat Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 The tablet wars are no longer a two-horse race between Apple and Google. Four days after Microsoft invited the press to Los Angeles (and after four days of Web-wide speculation as to why), on Monday, June 19, 2012, the company finally unveiled Surface. Surface is a line of tablet devices running the company's next-generation Windows operating system and marks Microsoft's first foray into the ever-expanding tablet market. Yes, you read that correctly: Microsoft will be building and branding its own tablets, effectively competing with its own hardware partners such as Dell, Hewlett-Packard, and Lenovo. There will be 2 versions: Windows RT and Windows 8. No price details, only a hands-on teaser. Release date should be around October, 2012 around the time that Windows 8 retail is released. If they do it right, it might be the next best thing to iPad Full details at this CNET article, including 2 video overviews.
guzzi850m2 Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Interesting. When my netbook is due for a change I might go for a tablet.
