Thursday At The Mfl Bridge, What Was The Commotion About?

I can't read Thai newspapers, so I can't follow up. Certainly something big was going on at the Mae Fa Luang bridge (NW of downtown C.Rai) on the 12th, mid-day.

An old car was in the middle of the river, top side up, but the focus of dozens of cops and dozens of others seemed to be on a patch of beach at the SE side of the bridge, about 50 meters from the swamped car. There were at least two small boats with ten military types in each, several cop vehicles, and even a helicopter overhead. Plus a cherry picker truck and a gaggle of cops on the bridge itself. Was it a a drill?

My guess: a car drove in to the river from the beach.

Anyone shed light on this?
