I need a mini amp with speakers that I can play a DVD player through. I just want something for listening to DVD's rather than playing through the TV speakers. Only needs to be 2 channel stereo, no DVD/CD facility but has to have a headphone socket. I see a few AJ brand in the local Tesco, but they look a bit cheap and nasty. Well, they are cheap, around 1500 baht.

Go to an electronic retailer and check out the Pioneer units. I bought one seven years ago for about 10K (now around 7K) baht and it has been fantastic. Plays USB memory, DVDs, CDs, VCDs and has line inputs as well as headphone connections. Unit has a subwoofer and also surround sound speakers which I normally do not use.

If you need a fine brand, I think you can go to IT City (top floor) at Pantip Plaza which you can get good brands and prices like Altec and Edifier.

No idea where you live.

Look for the local electronics shops, they usually have small amps

and speakers and you can put together a simple system.
