ivan96822 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Goodness gracious...some very bad suggestions here. I guess los have cleaned out some imtellectual abilities. In the meantime, I will be at terminal 21 , watching bad commercials, saluting his highness, not booking a sofa, and generally looking forward to grabbing a chang from 7.11 and picking up a bootlegged dvd from an indian dude whose bargain price ill have to barter down... ok ivan, too shy to say The Lion King? its ok mate, nothing to be ashamed about... The Lion King? Please. I forgot to mention another one of my favorites: BULLY directed by Larry Clark.
2unique Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 I would like to mention " The Purple Colour " one of the best movies i saw in my life .Stephen Spielberg is a great producer, so many outstanding movies ! The Colour Purple - a very powerful movie and a great book. Alice Walker lucked out with Spielberg as Rosa Guy and Mildred E Taylor are IMHO superior authors but their books have never been as successfully translated into films. I'd love someone to do a modern remake of Imitation of Life with Lana Turner, I wept unashamedly twice during that movie! Sent from Android, please excuse errors in type or judgement.

Hitchcock was a great director. he knew how to maintain suspense and seemed also to adapt books well to the screen. Some personal faves of mine he directed are; Dial M for Murder The Birds (Daphne Du Maurier novel) To Catch a Thief (David Dodge novel) North by Northwest Strangers on a Train (Patricia Highsmith novel, author who also did Ripley) Vertigo (based on a French novel I believe) 2
phuturatica Posted August 12, 2012 Author Posted August 12, 2012 For the OP, if you have not seen it yet, i would recommend " The kite runner " , the first movie from Afghanistan to become famous.. As good as the homonymous book imho. Already seen this and loved it. However the book was much better. The movie missed out loads of things. 1
