Annoying Validity Issue With One Two Call Prepaid Sim Card

Dear all,

I'm not a heavy mobile phone user and I have a one two call prepaid SIM card. If I top up with 100 Baht it's just valid for two weeks, even if I haven't used the value by then. That is going on my nerves.

Are there any other providers with longer validities?

Thank you for your help

It is the same with DTAC, and I think True as well.

I top up my wife's phone (DTAC) with 300 baht that seems to last a lot longer and she uses it to surf the net to use the money.

Are you sure ? been many years on contract with Hutch, taken over by True 3G 'H' totally useless, thankfully contract was only for 6 months...

Went with 1-2-call, 100 baht, I made 3 local calls and then would not connect, out of money !! went to AIS yesterday she said 100 baht top-up = 10 days, so back on a Contract this time with AIS 1-2-call,

200 baht per month, something like 300 min on promotion now will never use 300 mins a month, but at least it will connect every time...With True 50% of the last 6 months would say Sorry No service try later....and not drop the call after saying Hi/Hello almost every time.

with one 2 call if you put in *500*9# you get a promotion which gives 30 days more access and about 3 days of calls. They deduct about 40 baht. THis is whaqt I use as I am an infrequent user. You can predo this for about 6 months. Please check this information for yourself as although it works for me I am not you.

There have been dozens of threads on this subject, I'm too lazy to search for you right now.

There are ways to purchased additional validity with One-2-Call, Happy and TrueMove at low cost. I think Happy was 2 baht for each extra 30 days, so 24 baht for the maximum 365 days. TrueMove have the interSIM which gives 365 days for any top up of as little as 10 baht.

I have a DTAC top up Sim and it will last up to 12 months, The pay-off is dearer rates on calls but also as an infrequent user it suits me fine and i have a phone when i come back thru Swampy . I have had it for quite a few years so i don't know if it is still available .

Happy (DTAC) have a pre-paid SIM which never expires, as long as you use it at least once every ~ 41 days (1,000 hours): http://www.happy.co.th/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=89&Itemid=37〈=en

The calling rate is 0.99 baht/min all networks all day.

The NBTC has decreed, for AIS/One-2-Call and DTAC/Happy (but not True ;) ) that they must cap any/all promotions voice at 1 baht/min, by the end of the year. Further the NBTC has also decreed that there be no expiration dates on pre-paid SIM whatsoever. This is of course an idiotic idea which cannot be implemented as the number pool will be depleted if they can't re-cycle unused/expired numbers. And the NBTC has decreed that all SIMs must be registered. Non-compliance may be grounds for exclusion form October's 3G auction.

Problem for me with Dtac is the same with True H

Sorry No service try later....and dropped calls almost every time. guess it is where you live or go.

Thai friend in the Village went with DTAC happy, came across the road the other day asking me to try her sim in my phone as she had changed from True and thought it was her phone NO it is DTAC , I did try it 'Sorry No service try later' house down tried Dtac last year with same problems......... Many in the Village did have Hutch before it went to True, so there has been a lot of trial and errors here.

I think a lot of people forget that there is not 100% GSM coverage here in Thailand. But then that is not the subject of this thread.

Yes I think it is the OP asked ..........Are there any other providers with longer validities?..........

what is the point of changing if he cannot get a connection 50 or more % of the few calls he makes or receives.

The OP didn't really mention any issues re: coverage - having One-2-Call currently without any service coverage issues I inferred that any of the the three service providers would be sufficient in this regard. Your point about having limited coverage is a good reminder that there is not 100% GSM coverage here in Thailand, and obviously moving to a provider who did not have coverage in a specific location might be a different, albeit more vexing issue?
