BMTA PROMOTES ITS NEW TRANSPORT SERVICE PROJECT

Bangkok Mass Transit Authority unveils a new transport service project, where tourists will be able to rent a Euro 2 air-conditioned bus for one day so they can travel to the neighboring provinces of Thailand.

The project entitled Travel Thailand with the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority has been set up to help commuters reduce their transportation costs. At the same time, they will be provided with greater convenience and safer transport services. This is certainly an alternative for travelers who want to travel in groups.

Passengers will have an opportunity to visit many historical places in provinces such as Ayutthaya, Chonburi, and Chachoengsao. Each Euro 2 bus is able to support up to 35-40 passengers. The seats are vast and comfortable, while air-conditions will help appease the travelers. This program will be held only on weekends, starting from today to the end of March 2006. Interested packages of this program include the Au Bang Kaen to Phra Nakhon Sri Ayutthaya (อู่บางเขน – พระนครศรีอยุธยา) route, where passengers can visit the nine temples along the way. In addition, the price of this package is only 199 baht per person. Another interesting offer is Samut Prakarn to Khao Kaew Open Zoo (สมุทรปราการ – สวนสัตว์เปิดเขาเขียว) route, and its price is 400 baht per passenger. The dining cost is also inclusive.

The Director of the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority, Mr. Opart Petchamuni (โอภาส เพชรมุณี), stated that this project has been set up for those with low incomes, and thus, they would have an opportunity to visit the peripheral areas of Bangkok and nearby provinces. This project is also accords with the government policy of promoting family values.
