Cabinet to hold meeting at Thailand's first night safari

BANGKOK: -- The Thai cabinet will hold its next mobile meeting in the country's first night safari, Chiang Mai Night Safari, next week.

Government Spokesman Surapong Suebwonglee told journalists here on Tuesday that the official cabinet meeting would be held on February 7, with Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, accompanied by his cabinet members, scheduled to visit local residents in many districts to gather information on provincial issues and problems on February 6.

The issues and problems would then be raised at the cabinet meeting, he said.

Agenda of the next roving cabinet meeting would also include government strategies on the development of Chiang Mai and neighbouring provinces in the cluster of upper northern provinces, namely flood prevention plans and improvement of areas in Chiang Mai in preparation for its host of an international conference late this year.

Dr. Surapong said Her Majesty the Queen would host a banquet for the Thai cabinet on February 5 prior to its next mobile meeting.

The cabinet meeting at Chiang Mai Night Safari is believed to help attract a number of tourists and visitors to the country's first-ever night safari, scheduled to be officially opened soon.
