For Anybody Who Doesn't Fully Understand The Euro Situation

Featured Replies

For anybody who doesn't fully understand the Euro situation,

it is explained very simply in the picture below........

THIS IS BRILLIANT – and sums up Europe in a "few" words

Pythagoras' theorem - 24 words.

Lord's Prayer - 66 words.

Archimedes' Principle - 67 words.

10 Commandments - 179 words.

Gettysburg address - 286 words.

US Declaration of Independence - 1,300 words.

US Constitution with all 27 Amendments - 7,818 words.

EU regulations on the sale of cabbage - 26,911 words

Obama Healthcare bill - 185,000 words.

So the idea is that the best economy dragging the whole bunch along is crapping on everyone else ? Seems like the picture is upside down to me ..... The countries that can't fund their own existance are somehow getting crapped on by the ones paying their bills ? Pretty bizzare explasnation if you ask me

^Yes, the perches need to be reversed...

Totally agree, top 2 perches are the ones being crapped on.

The bottom perch is just a lot of "Poor me" outfits.

If I haven't said it already I am saying it now: the euro zone countries should have let Greece go bankrupt. This would have saved a lot of money and sent a clear signal to the other euro zone countries.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

The Euro was specifically designed to keep the international exchange rate of France and Germany low, so that they could export more products. The Germans have understood this well and continue to profit from the artificially low level of their currency on the international market. By keeping Greece, Ireland, Portugal and so on in the currency union the Germans keep the Euro low amd thus sell more goods overseas. Good business for Germany and to hell with the rest.

Hopefully the proposed QE in the UK, lowering the value of sterling, will do the same. More jobs for the UK, but higher prices for the population.

So instead of marching into Europe next time they'll just buy it?

Is it possible to bankrupt an country?

After that Greece could would probably say "Now than our all our loans has been voided, we should get a good credit ratings. Btw. Could you loan some money, we are hungry".
