Very nice, @mcfishman .... how long was the exposure?

Thank you very much tangaroa67! smile.pngsmile.png And, good question too. Exposure was only 1.8 seconds. You can see it was long enough to smooth out the water but the clouds are less affected. Can't say I planned that but next time. . . I'll be thinking about that. Learn as a I go!

My bad tangaroa67 facepalm.gif . . . for the photo in question, I averaged 3 exposures from 7 to 1.8 seconds. For this photo, I averaged 3 exposures from 0.5 to 1/8 seconds. You can see the water is less smooth than the previous image.

Thanks for the description, @mcfishman. I prefer the first image .... it just seems 'cleaner'. It's better compositionally too, since it has foreground, middleground (is that even a word?) AND background interest. Keep shooting!

This morning went back to that group of rocks on Hua Hin beach. Cranked up my exposure time to 30 seconds and here's what I got. . . the water turned into silk and the people became ghosts. Is that cool or what?

^ Superb shot. Great exposure and composition. Colours are beautiful.

Really nice shot. Long exposures are a great way to make people disappear. @mcfishman

As I'm stuck at home with a stomach bug and haven't taken any pictures for 2 days, I'll give you some older ones from my trip in Koh Chang.

I really want to go back there.......so many pictures I could have taken but I didn't.

Hey Alex, we take our other parts and go together?

Keep 'em coming, Shaggy ... I love these fishing contraption shots :-)

Apologies for the late reply tangaroa67,been having issues with my computer.

Thank you,I love this area (Northern tip of the Lam Pao reservoir),it is a sight to behold, not only at sunset/sunrise but also during the daylight hours also.

I am lucky enough to have friends that own one of the fishing rafts there and so can have some fun fishing with them and also have a boat to go on the water

and get among them all,but with having so many of the so close together, getting a clean shot can be difficult sometimes.....also trying to keep a steady arm in

a narrow canoe can be also a bit challenging! Here's just a very small section of the rafts!

Is that your vessel, Shaggy? laugh.png

More from the haze days:

DAL,that shot is awesome,it wouldn't look out of place on the front cover of National Geographic!

Have also been a bit naughty and downloaded it from your Flickr site,it is now my desktop screensaver !

I am using it as a reminder of how a sunrise should look, and will only be replaced when I can take a better one myself......which could take sometime.

Great job,well done mate!!!

Plenty of worthy calendar material in this thread alone folks, don't be shy......get them shown thumbsup.gif wai.gif

^^ I forgot to mention I had to resort to using the mobile phone camera (by way of a weak excuse!)

These camera phones are getting to the level were I'm beginning to wonder why I carry a camera at all.

May I ask what phone and software you use?

Thxs

Thanks! The phone's an Oppo R7plus with a 13megapixel camera. I left it on RAW and auto settings, which came out at 1/233s at f/2.2, ISO 100. I tinkered with the photo in Lightroom and shrank the resulting jpg with Faststone.
