Popular Post KBK
Here we are about to get some cow dung, but it is hard work, so in the future it will be the chicken shit as it can be bought by the truck load.
Popular Post riceyummm
I may have posted this series before, if so, please forgive me, I don't remember and I don't want to go back and look and search functions have yielded zero. Making charcoal. Cut wood. Go to village rice machine(?) for rice hulls. Get busy with the wood. It's hard work and I swear I would have helped her but somebody had to MAN the camera. Kidding....I worked too.

Popular Post T_Dog
Found an old harvest photo and might have trouble getting old-style photos this year as I saw a brand new Kubota combine in the field yesterday. I am hoping the farmer that tends our small plot will do it the old way.

T_Dog
I see hundreds of those but I don't know what to call them. "Sala" seems too refined. "Shanty" seems a little weak. "Shack" is good but maybe disrespectful. What are those structures called in Thai? (I would ask the wife but she isn't home at the moment.) "Wee Haak" might work! Popular Post T_Dog
Seeing all those excellent photos of gra dtot structures reminded of this one I rested at when I was a bit lost up in the hills on the mountain bike. Ended up wandering into a Hmong hill tribe village and time slammed against a brick wall. Wood was stacked everywhere, pigs running around the cooking fires, and then I saw this ancient corn mill. Who knows how old that stone is.... Grain goes in the middle of the stone and you pull the lever back and forth to do your milling. Folks living up there were farming to survive and doing quite well at it from what I could see.
