In Ear Headphones Any Recomendations?

Featured Replies

I have had a couple of pairs of Sennheiser CX300II 's, very happy with the sound when working, but both pairs the left ear bud stopped working after about 5-6 months.

Could anyone recommend something else in this price range but a bit more durable?

I mostly listen on to 'Indie Rock' music but also use them for tablet biased Thai language course.

A pair that could double as a hands free headset would be useful but not essential.

Can buy in UK, Thailand or Singapore.

cheers

Klipsch S4's.I use them to listen to rock/metal.Really amazing depth for something so small.Excellent soundstage and crystal clear.

Thanks for the advice

went with the standard soundmagic for now, sound good + seem well made.

did not get with the mic because it said only for i-phone and I use HTC.

if they go the same way as the Sennheiser's I will try the Klipsch, next but hoping they will last 5555

cheers

Hi Jay,

Glad that the SoundMagic earphones seem okay, where did you buy them - UK or Thailand?

I use and like the middle model in the Soken range about 600-700 thb the top model seems to have over contoured bass to me but check it out.clap2.gif

Bought mine at a Soken stand in a shopping Mall in Bangkok haven't seen them locally (Rayong).

Up your budget a bit and go for ones with detachable / user replaceable cables, as this turns it into a modular design that you can service yourself. Cables, or more to the point, the bits where the cable joins the earphone are the most vulnerable part of the earphone.

I can personally recommend anything by Shure or Sennheiser but there many offerings out there now that seem to be well received by audiophiles.

Here are a couple that turned up in google with the keywords "detachable" / "removable" cable.

I spent over 200 quid on a pair of Shure SE530 when they first came out in 2007 and they're still going strong, which is very good going as the cables aren't actually detachable, and I really 'use' my equipment.

The cable toggle and rubber cable/earphone join-protectors have since disintegrated but the former was easily fixed with a rubber band and and I've never ever felt like I spent too much money on them, they just sound so dam_n good!

Even if money was no object, I probably wouldn't buy the upgraded model that has detachable cables because I just can't justify getting rid of my SE530 until they've really died!

My previous pair of S4's died after two years so recently purchased a pair of S4i's. Good price and excellent quality. The medium size earbuds that I purchased from Amazon for the S4's also fit the S4i's.
