belg Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 shinny numbers nobody can check, so everybody can give themselves a nice pad on the back and a nice bonus on their account who cares if those numbers are real or not ? face is the only importance here ... and nobody to challenge the numbers and yes, quantity please... as if it reflects any quality... they prefer 1.000.000 low budget indians, chinese, russians than 100.000 wealthy farangs to come spend time and money
StefanBBK Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Just a quick thought regarding visa runs. There are x number of land crossings to cambodia and laos. I have to do thos three times in two years. The places are always very busy with western tourists as well as philippine workers. I would carefully estimate 3000 people per day for all crossings combined. That could destort the annual arrival number by a million, little less than 5%. It has been the same for years, so previous figures would have been distorted just the same. I guess the number of short time tourists, comin for long werkends or 3 to 5 days from china, hong kobg, japan, singapore has increased hugely, whilst the number of 2 week holiday makers from Europe, Us, australia must have decreased. again the best way to judge woul be hotel overnights. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app The last time I went to Laos was the crossing at Nongkai. There were bus load after bus load of Thais going into Laos for a day trip and the same for Laos folks making day trips to Thailand. I wonder if they include these in their numbers?

This seems like a decent guess. And to everybody screaming about the Russians invading...it's not just Thailand. There are tons of Russians in Vietnam as well. In fact the best exchange rate I could find was from a Russian shop, and the blonde Russian couldn't speak one word of English.
easybullet3 Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Phuket and Pattaya is flooded with half-naked russian tourists. Not just females though, I saw many russian males walking topless aswell. Someone can get confused about who works in A-go-go and which one is the tourist nowadays in Pattaya. Increasing number of visits with low income tourists will not help Thai economy at all. We receive more or less same amount of Tourists compared to Thailand in my homecountry. Whenever russian tourist numbers increased, high paying German and north european tourists declined. What about Thailand? I wonder if same scenario applies here. you are 'putting down' Russian tourists because they don't bring much money to the city of Pattaya and the guys walk around top-less.. (the way that you said it was as if its 'not pleasant' to see). how about the tens of thousands of Thai girls that are half-naked in Pattaya and don't give much money to the city of Pattaya? seems you discriminate against one, and not the other.
ginjag Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Classed VISITER arrivals, nice convenient word. Every movement that passes through ANY point of entry into the kingdom. They link this to tourism, that's what impression it gives. List who could be entering at these border points. The list is enormous ---visa runs-workers-shoppers at border points-FORCED re-entries-or overstay-do these include THAI classed as visitors entering after business or travel???- after all, Thais are travelling in vast numbers- name others anyone------TAT is assuming that these are tourists ??? as always. Wish there was ways to split all these VISITORS into all the different reasons for entering-it would make interesting reading.
