It is seriously cheap compared to True. As for avoiding results etc, it ain't really possible unless yer a hermit or never get on the net or talk to people.

Watching whole games when u know the result? Why?

Keep True for the other stuff, and have CTH for the live football. 225b a week ain't a lot.

A bonus is that when the rain blox True, CTH comes from the east, not the west, so u will always have TV.

Like somebody else I try to avoid results until at least Monday night. Tough with those damned strap lines and it means you can't watch a news channel for a couple of days. Mondays around here are often sprinkled with expletives when I get caught out, in which case yep I'm much less likely to watch the whole game.

Now if CTH could steal a march on True's previous coverage and do intelligent highlights - either:

A half hour for each game, or even better

10 minutes of first half highlights, plus the whole second half for each game

I'd be in seventh heaven. Hell I'd even go to Bangkok and do the edits for them every other weeklaugh.png (not a serious runner as they would want to edit by ref to the Thai version)! Unfortunately they have to buy-in what Scuddamore or another operator sells them I suspect. P'raps not. Did anyone else notice with True that they arbitrarily cut off from minute 15 ish to minute 25ish on almost every repeat. Sometimes players had disappeared with very controversial red cards or broken legs, WWIII had broken out, but no - you'd missed it and had to sleuth your way through the clues given in the rest of the match.

I'll stop dribbling the next cr@p that comes into my head now (not drinking, honestly)

Blimey. Have you ever thought about getting yourself a life instead whistling.gif

My plan to keep True and have it running into the same tv as CTH has been squashed due to only have 1 socket in the wall (the round one where the white lead goes)

Others here have said that they have both running into the same tv....how have you done that? 2 sockets I assume?

I'm not over bothered and don't doubt the engineer is correct but thought I'd ask the question anyway..

You just need a splitter (not sure if thats the techie term!) The white lead goes in one end and you connect the two boxes together out of the other side of the splitter. The engineer must know about them (just a plastic box with one input and two outputs)

That sounds like something you would smoke.

Thans for the heads up, yes very disappointing the engineer didn't know about this. Idiot.

I will look into it.

But wilai, if there is only one cable going to one satellite then surely splitting it at the socket won't help !

Yes only one white tv cable can go into the wall socket (ie connecting to a satellite)

I have now binned True and had CTH installed by the local Kamphaeng Phet cable company via one of their associate satellite installers. And very impressed I am too with the picture quality and programme schedule. At 900+ baht a month,it's good value for money especially when the Premier League arrives. I do miss the TCM and MGM film channels as I'm a bit of a sucker for the old films. The CTH movie channels consist entirely of some of those slick American films or series where the chiselled jaw leading man speaks in hushed tones and the women seem like they've all just graduated out of the School of Method Acting in the Style of Buffy the Vampire. A minor hindrance, nevertheless.

You are impressed with programme shedule?? Really, why is that?

I think it's shocking, you can't even see what is on. But I appreciate this is all new so prepard to cut them some slack and hopefully they will get everything sorted in time.

What have they been showing on the sports channels, Pat? Is there anything on those 'Stadium' channels; review or preview shows, for example?

Yeah you're right Alfie. I used it with a Grammy box but that utilised the true dish. So now I don't understand the problem? I assume PP has two dishes and two boxes so must have two cables coming in anyway? as long as both boxes are connected to the TV, there shouldn't be a problem, or am I missing something?

To be fair wilai i'm an expert on many things laugh.png but satellite connections are not one of them ! but what i suspect might have happened is that the engineer to save a bit of time has connected the box and satlellite to his existing true cable ! did he run a new cable through the house PP ?

It's true that the Programme Guide shows nothing at the moment. What I meant to say was that I am impressed by the general programme content.

So am I impressed by the programme content, only because its 926baht a month, any more and I would be disappointed.

Let's face it, half the channels could disappear Tmrw and most of us wouldn't care, as long as still got EPL. F1 and other major sports on fox. Nat Geo is useful if nothing else is on as is sky news. Only thing I'll miss from True is guaranteed UCL coverage. But I'm hoping to obtain this by other means.

You're spot on, blue. Remember Thai tv some UCL games, or they did last season anyway.

Btw, the league cup 2nd round draw is at 6.30 our time today.

Millwall vs West Ham will do me w00t.gif

Keddy - No nothing yet, just basketball and motor cross.

What pisses me off is that True haven't dropped the price of their Gold package, the cheapest package that shows all its sport channels, even though it has lost the crown jewels, EPL. They justify this by introducing more HD channels, but it still is very bad value. I thought I would get all its sport on True's 500 baht Super Sports package, but half of the channels are missing. I miss True, but can't afford CTH and True Gold as well.

Got CTH satellite Installed today by one of their agents cost 2500. I live in pathum thani so if anyone else in the area wants the number DM me.

Great service, went for 899 package as this one can be paid monthly. 599 package has to be paid upfront for the year.

Translation. 'I will pay 962 baht a month (including VAT) for the CTH package, rather than paying 23,076 baht up front for 3 years supply (which would have worked out at a simple monthly average rate of 641 baht.)'

I'm not saying you are doing the wrong thing, just pointing out that there is only one package on sale but you get it cheaper the more you are prepared to pay for 1 year, two years or three years up front instead of the standard monthly rate (when you will probably only be asked for two months rental in advance. All prices quoted by CTH in their advertising literature do not include 7% VAT that you will be charged on installation costs (although VAT is not charged on the digibox refundable deposit) and package supply cost. There is much scope for misunderstanding with the press still saying how cheap it is at only 599 baht a month.

They're advertising the EPL channels as HD but will it be 1080 or 720? I need to buy a new TV so I'm wondering whether to go for true HD (1080) or a cheaper 1024X768 (720) model.

Go for true HD mate, don't scrimp over a few baht, this is watching football you are talking about not some bloody thai soapy!

Folk in Pattaya had to pay 3500 for install.

That is why it is 599 because you have to pay for the year. Actually that's not correct anyway, you will find that you need to pay for the 3 years ufront for it to equal 599 baht.
