George's Tragedy

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

George W Bush visits a primary school at 4th grade.

They're just discussing the meaning of certain words.

The teacher asks G.W. Bush to lead the discussion on the word 'tragedy'.

Bush asks the class if anyone can give an example of a tragedy.

A boy stands up and says:

"If my best friend crosses the street and he is killed, that is a tragedy."

"No," says G.W., "that's not a tragedy but an accident."

A girl also makes an attempt: "If a school bus with 50 students in it, drives into a ravine and everyone is dead, it is a tragedy."

"No," says G.W., "that's not a tragedy but a great loss."

The whole class is still looking but Bush insists:

"Is there anyone who can give an example of a tragedy?"

In the corner of the classroom is little John.

The teacher stares at the ceiling and listen what little John will say! Timidly he says this:

"If Air Force One with the whole Bush family family on board, is hit by a missile of Al Qaeda and thus completely destroyed and everybody killed, that is a tragedy."

"Fantastic," says Bush, "can you explain to me why that is a tragedy?"

"Well," says John, "because it is no accident and certainly no great loss!
