Electric Bill

Featured Replies

helo someone close to my house is regularly electric welding stuff and that makes my whole electric supply switch from 230 to 140 everytine his arch is going

beside the fact that mu ups systems are constant clicking on and of it it also noticable in the sound from all the fridges and freezers and in the evening also the lights

my question is does this effect my electric bill cos my demand stays the same only the grid cannot supply it

anyone with an answer

greets

Unless he's hooked up to your supply directly or indirectly, no extra KWH for your bill. Suspect you are in single phase area and low demand meaning extra than normal power usage by someone else (or you) will "brown out" the neighborhood. Best thing to do is complain the local place where you pay your electric bill and hope they consider it for upgrade.

I had a similar problem using my own welding unit. It is not hooked through the distribution unit of the house but is hooked directly to the meter through a seperate distribution box. When I welded the house voltage dropped to 150vac. I called PEA and when they came they "chuckled" when my wife tried to explain to them what was happening. So I hooked a meter to a plug in the house and showed them the problem. A couple of days later it was fixed, I think that they changed the transformer at the pole down the road. It supplies the entire village.
