Firstly, many thanks to all of you who give freely such helpful and important advice in this forum...

My issue:

Non-Immigrant O (Marriage) Multiple entry visa expired 13 Jan 2006.

My re-entry permit expires 10th Apr 2006.

Limited money in Thai bank account but I do have a small 4 weekly UK income of say 40,000 plus baht.

My wife has a non-Ltd company that is running and I have two Ltd companies that are sleeping. I also own land here that I am looking to sell or develop subject to finding a suitable investor on a 50/50 basis.

My Question:

My old visa was granted a 1 year permission to stay, but I never renewed because I did not have the 400,000 baht in my Thai bank account. Could I have renewed my stay for another year based on my UK income and if so how? and is it too late now to do this? Does my UK income have to be declared for tax purposes in the UK?

I also understand that my wifes company could employ me legally and I would have to pay less tax etc, than being active in my own Ltd companies. Is this true?

Any help greatly appreciated.

You can extend your stay in March if you meet the requirements. The money from overseas I believe has to be declared and confirmed by your Embassy. One recent report said they required 45k per month for overseas income but that could be a local issue or miscommunication. As for owning land that would be illegal so I do not believe you would make many points with that issue.

I believe the difference in tax payment would be that as a spouse you could use the 40k per month income rather than the nationality amount required on a business visa; but I have no idea if her company could employ you and obtain a work permit.
